I know quite a few people with Tundra's and every one of them has complained about the fuel economy, most claiming between 14 and 15.

Here you go, average for the Tundra is between 14 and 15. Nothing is wrong, the Tundra just gets crap fuel economy.

I have an excel spreadsheet that contains over 800 different tundras (5.7l 4X4) averages that I put together before buying a Tacoma so it's not my heavy foot.
Sorry OP, I didn't mean to get off subject. I don't want to mislead people on actuals.
Have fun with your new truck:)

The Tacoma v6 4x4 isn't significantly better. Shouldn't be a big factor considering what more you get with the Tundra.

Is the Tundra about to get redesigned?

You do understand how an average works, no? You are obviously getting higher than average but for the people who are higher than the average, there are just as many that are lower than the average... Just because you get 16 MPG doesn't mean everyone will. Elevation is a factor and you may drive very conservatively. The same reason I get 20 MPG with my Tacoma yet fuelly says the average is 18 - 19 MPG. I don't understand why you're trying to debate this... as far as full sized trucks go, the Tundra is at the bottom when it comes to fuel economy.

    It's about a 20 - 25% decrease in fuel economy... That's fairly significant.

Regardless, if the OP wants a Tundra, get the Tundra but you should know all the facts before making the decision. If you can swing the extra fuel and need the extra capacity, go for it.

Someone pee in your Cheerios? I'm sure many can and do get 16MPG such as I am, but just don't report it.
Bottom line is you don't buy a truck for MPG, especially a full size. I'm sure OP knows this.
    Have a great day.

I get 11-12mpg in my Tacoma. 1000lbs in bed camper, ladder, tools etc... every day.

Mileage is relative. With small engine once you load up the truck and the engine has to work hard to get up to speed mileage will go down drastically...

I had a first gen Tundra and it was a nice truck but it can't hold a candle to my new Taco. It is hands down the best vehicle I have ever owned. I do wish it had a few more bells and whistles but nothing I can't live without.

^ I dont like the F150's. My dad has an 06 Lariat and its just always something. A sensor goes out or a bolt comes off. We take very good care of our vechicles and don't abuse them. We do pull a camper and boat a lot, but that shouldn't affect it.

That's the way some people feel about their Tacoma. I'm not saying that to start a crap storm but with any vehicle, any make, any model, there will be cases of just plain bad luck. Everyone has their reasons for choosing one make over another and if I had a bad experience with one particular manufacturer, I'd be hard pressed to buy another as well.

I wasnt trying to start a crap storm. Every vechicle manufacturer has lemons. My aunt has a new Chevy Aveo and we worked on that thing so much it wasn't even funny, but then my uncle has a Silverado with 250,000 miles and he drives it like 50 miles a day to work and has no problems. When it comes down to it, almost all vehicles will last if they are taken care of propely its all just a matter of personal preference, but sometimes they just mess one up.
