I agree that the lifted Tundra looked better than the Raptor. The Raptor was a way funner truck to drive but ultimately the Raptor is a pile of garbage (I owned it for 18 months and had many many issues, some of which the dealers, I tired several, could never solve.)

I had the 7" BDS coilover kit on that Tundra. So it was 2.5" Foxes front and rear, with 37" Toyos (not my most favorite tire), don't remember what rims those were, and nfab steps.

Doing it all over again, I would stick to a 35" tire and a smaller lift. I used that Tundra primarily for towing and while it still handled my loads fine, it would drink the gas when towing (mid single digit mpg). When not towing, it was 13-15mpg.

Except, as my previous comment states, my son is a 28yrs old and severely autistic(functions mentally about the 1yr old level). And it's not just that. When we go out. I like to take the truck most of the time. That's impossible if we have say friends we're driving to dinner with.

Thanks! The sad thing is, those are only my vehicles, my wife has had just as many in the same amount of time and we usually have an extra “fun” car around too that gets traded just as often. My wife and I joke that we have ADD with vehicles.

You need room for passengers, it's a no brainer to go to a bigger truck. Personally, I'd probably get a Chevrolet as I like their drivetrain better.

No way on the Chevy. It was either another F150 or a Tundra. Don't trust Chevy or Dodge/Ram any farther than I can throw 'em.

Had a 2010 trd sport access cab in the metallic grey and when the wife.got back into horses had to trade in for a at the time leased 2016 tundra trd offroad with the 5.7 and 38 gallon tank.
The truck was a tank and drove awesome but had to put in an insurance claim for wireing damage duento mice at less than 1000 miles.on it.
USAA told the dealership they would cover as long as they made sure no more mice.
It sat at the dealership for a month and a half with all but the top of the dash out to make sure.
They heard mice running around in the headliner!
When that leaee was up we were going to buy it but wife was. Concerned about long term issues with the electrical.
We now have a 2019 leased tundra and also love it but it is a gas hog even with the 6 speed automatic.

In 2 years when its lease is up and the corolla is paid off since shes down to one horse the tundra js going back and im gojng back to a Tacoma as we dint really need a full size but love the trucks.

I have a 16' stock trailer. Not a real heavy duty one. I pulled my 2 horses in it once about an hour one way to my buddy's to get their feet trimmed and shod. The Tacoma pulled it ok, but I was really cautious. It's rated at I think 6400 pounds, and that trailer and the 2 horses were probably about 4-4500 pounds. It's more the stopping I was worried about as I didn't have a brake controller installed. I also pulled 6 one thousand pound bales on my flatbed trailer and it towed them ok. Ya just gotta be careful and watch what you're doin. I wouldn't make a habit of towing that much on a regular basis. I can't wait to tow something significant with this Tundra. Thanks for the comments. And WOW! Mice...! Whooda thunk it?!?

This load was probably about 7500 pounds. Acceleration in the Tacoma was like watching a freight train take off from a stop. It was about a 45 minute drive back to the house on local highways and the mpg readout was about 8mpg for the trip. About half the 16mpg it averaged all the other time when not towing.

Disregarding the issues with the Raptor, how did you like it overall? I aspire to own one someday and may wait for the 3rd generation.

When it wasn't having tranny issues, panels weren't falling off, electronics were working properly, I could go on...it was a really fun truck to drive. One thing that drove me nuts was all the old men that would check me out while driving it:rofl:I also found Ford to be a terrible company. When you spend $80K on a vehicle, I absolutely expect a certain level of service. I was treated no different than the shlub driving the 10yo Fiesta. That may sounds stuck-up or whatever, but when I would take our Range Rover in for service, our Lexus, our Land Rover, our...I could go on, you are treated very well. Hell, even when I take my Toyotas in for service, they treat you good. Not so with the Ford, I couldn;t even get a callback on the status of my truck and this same thing happened at all the different Ford dealers in my area. Until Ford can fix their Service, I won't own another. So overall on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being never again I'm probably somewhere around a 2-3. If the 3rd gen is absolutely amazing, I may be tempted to take a look, but there's a lot that would need to be fixed (not just with the vehicle) before I would own another.

That's too bad. İt seems as though Raptors are hit or miss when it comes to quality. My next will be either a full size Raptor or Cybertruck. At this point I am leaning towards the Tesla. Never worrying about paint chips or door dings really appeals to my anal retentive personality.

In general, they all will last a long time and many miles if you take care of them.

I'll take the Chevy as I like the LSx platform.

Pulling with the Tundra is no problem. Just make sure it has sufficient payload. Lowest in class. Mine barely gets it done with 5,500 pounds of trailer. It depends on trim.

I had a 4Runner with a 3rd row before I got my Tundra and while there are a few things I miss about the 4R, the tundra Crewmax I have is a way better fit. I have 3 kids, 2 mos to age 5 and the backseat is plenty roomy for all of them and carseats. The towing and open bed are awesome for real truck things and I just got a roll up cover to solve the issue of not having dry storage space. I will also say the tundra is beyond impressive off road in the little bit I've done even just in stock form. Gas mileage can be rough if you have a heavy foot like me but the 38 gal tank helps compensate for that. Also, if you only have 2 kids/carseats or whatever you can still fit a 3rd person back there with them pretty comfortably. Now if you dont use the open bed or tow anything moderately heavy you might look into a 4Runner. Badass offroad in stock form, plenty of room for a couple kids and dry space for camping gear and such a little more of the niceties on the inside as far as tech goes but not as comfortable imo. Easier to park and drive if you're super used to the smaller truck but since you've had an F150 the tundra shouldn't be a problem.

I sold my Taco and got a full size. However, I went with the new redesigned Rams. So hold on while I bring up my flame shield.....

Loved the Taco. But nowadays, half the time I'm towing my boat. So a full size made more sense. Honestly, if you have the space, and you're not offroading, I think a full size is just better. I see a lot of people talk about ease of driving and parking. A lot of that's valid, but I guess it never bothered me. I drove a rented F150 in the heart of Montreal and never felt the bigger size was an issue. Similarly, with backup cameras, backing in to a parking space is no big deal.

Now that I live in a smaller town in NC, I usually never have to worry about parking. Holy crap I do not miss living in a big city for just that fact alone.

I think you'll really enjoy the Tundra. I definitely heavily considered it. They're badass trucks.

You'll be fine. I tried all the full size, except for the Titan, and chose Ram. Felt like I was taking a chance, but had enough friends, and talked to a lot of co-workers who were happy with theirs. Almost four years and 119 thousand kilometers later, I'm still happy with my choice. Never a day of trouble, or unscheduled maintenance, knock on wood. Love getting behind the wheel everyday, and it feels as good as the day I drove it home.

Now where'd you get your flame retardant suit? I may need one after writing that reply.

I had to borrow some from the Ram forums, since they're used to FCA being shit on every day hahaha.

I pretty much was exactly like you. Was unsure about going Ram, especially after being on Tacomaworld so much where, let's be honest, the Toyota koolaid gets passed around often. I then went on some Ram forums to get an idea of what to expect, asked a couple coworkers their experiences etc.

I wasn't certain until I sat in the new 5th gen Rams. WOW I was impressed. Miles ahead of the competition. I told myself, I'll take a chance on reliability and quality control and try it out.

It's funny how tribalism is so prevalent. PS4 vs Xbox, Iphone vs Android, Toyota vs everyone etc. I'm an Android user but two years ago I got an Iphone just to try it out. I figure, if I'm gonna talk outta my ass about how much Iphone sucks, I better actually give it a fair shot. Turns out it wasn't that bad. I eventually switched back to Android but I certainly understand advantages of the Iphone. Same thing with trucks, all this bashing is just idiotic. For sure, there are people out there with adverse experiences and valid points, but I figure I'm gonna at least try it out, and if it doesn't work, that's what warranty is for.
