Thinking of Wrapping Chrome Bumper

Bumper.

 

I get what you mean about altering parts but as long as you mask off the bumper and surrounding areas well, you can't do much damage. Even if the paint didn't come out right, you can always sand it off and start over.

OR just use plastidip, as long as you put enough coats, you can peel it off similar to vinyl later. If you find that it chips too much then you can always then peel it off and paint it black (as you wouldve had practice applying the plastidip to it).

 

So, unless I'm mistaken, the Super White tacomas aren't clear coated, right?

If that's the case, would I still want to clear coat the bumper if I painted it? Wouldn't that alter the color matching?

 

People have said not to use clear coat over color matching super white, it’ll turn yellow

 

Guess I'm lucky I love chrome. It defines the bumper to me. Every other vehicle has plastic color match.

 

You have any pictures of how the bumper turned out? I was thinking about doing the same thing

Do you have pics? I am going to either paint or rust-oleum bed liner my rear bumper but don’t know how gritty the rust-oleum bedliner looks/is. If it’s super gritty I will probably just paint it. Thanks

There’s a company called bumpershellz that make covers. But from seeing a new painted bumper for $190 I would go that route

 

The rust-oleum bed liner came out pretty smooth.

For sure. Bumper can be a bit of a pain to get off, especially the plastic bits.
Definitely let the bedliner cure before you try to cram the bumper back on, too.
