Probably a tundra or f150. Maybe a Duramax depending what they look like in the future.

I replaced my factory radio with a double DIN insert just for that reason. Your 1st gen was ideal, double DIN factory slot (one for broadcast, one for two-way, easy-peazy) and then it still has the ash tray for a CB.

So you don't plan on towing very far then? A battery charge won't take you far... especially when towing.

No I'm saying that maybe in 7-10 years the brainiacs can actually come up with an electric vehicle that will be able to replace gassers.

Not considering a new truck for at least 10+ years. Reilene is going to stick with me (hopefully) till then and beyond.

All I want are some off road tires and a place to get dirty (hard to come by in Northern NJ)

By then I'd expect a Gen 6 hydrogen fueled thingy with hover mode.

I have a 2006. I love it. I Never question if it will start up. It’s super smooth running. It’s our vehicle choice if we go on a road trip. Just me, my wife and our dog. It gets me down some rugged dirt roads to awesome camp sites. It only has 170,000 miles.

I keep up with maintenance well, and I’m about to get the tranny flushed for the second time. I DIY the rest of it usually.

It’s been paid off since 2008: which is really the BEST part.

Having said that, the car manufacturers are about to covid-bleed this summer. There are going to be some smoking deals. That new GMC Sierra AT4 with the diesel is a pretty attractive option. So is a new Tacoma.

My 2015 only has 36K miles, so, I'll be driving it for awhile, UNLESS, Toyota should decide to market and sell a V-8 powered Tacoma. I'll buy the first available one. I'm an old school old guy. LOL

Love my 2nd gen, but it will probably be my last Tacoma. Just cant stand the look of the 3rd gen and pretty sure the 4th gen will be uglier. Tundra it is!!!

I'd like to pick up the current generation 4 Runner with the current 4.0, preferably the final year before the next generation

Edit/Ad - I also love the simplicity of my 2011 (non of that info tech screen crap). Not looking forward to entering that world in a vehicle. Call me old and grumpy.

My 2012 has 160,800Kms (100,000 miles) on it. I plan on keeping it until it's completely dead. But then I'd look for another 2nd gen, or if it's far enough away in the future wherer finding a good 2nd gen is impossible. Then I'll look for a 3rd gen.
Car like interiors with all the latest technology and distraction is not in my interest at all.

I would love a third Toyota instead of a newer one. It might be my Coronavirus boredom talking but I have a desire for an MR2 Spyder. But hopefully buying a home first. I hope the virus doesn’t put a stop to me buying a home.

You arent going to see a move away form the 2GR currently in the 3rd gen in the future, you will likely see a turbod version of it (ill put money on a twin trubo 2GR FKS in the new tundra coming in a year or two).

That stated, i love my 2nd gen, the perfect blend of simplicity with creature comforts. Im going to drive it into the ground, BUT if i had to replace it, i dont know that it would be another taco. Id probably go full size. Tundra/F150

I mean I'd definitely like to see what Toyota comes out with as their 4th Gen. Aside from the 3rd Gen, Toyota has come out with great setups on the Tacomas.
But I've put in a lot into my Tacoma already and plan to keep it for a long while.

I just bought my 2010 TRD OR in August last year. I’ve done several maintenance items and upgrades on it so far. At 152k miles it should go another 150 no problem. I don’t plan on driving it more than 5 or 10k a year since I mostly drive the Prius anyway.

naw you wont likely see those in their truck platforms ever. They didnt put the time and energy into the 2GR-FKS to abandon it 4-5 years later.
