I kinda remember reading that Toyota came out and back spec'd some of the newer engines to a 5W-20 oil, if you wanted to use that.

Can anyone tell me if my engine qualifies to use the thinner oil?

    06 Standard Cab, 2.7 L auto tranny.

    TIA~

    The newer 2.7 engine uses 0w20 or 5w20. I run 5w20 Mobil 1.

It says 5W-30 on the oil filler cap, and that's what I've been using.

But I thought I remembered seeing on this site that Toyota had back spec'd some engines to the 5W-20 oil, and I was wondering if my engine, year was one of them.
