It’s a GPS messenger and SOS device. I use to to keep coms with the wife when off grid. That way if something happens with her or the kids she can get ahold of me.
The SOS is someone basically dying. Sends out a signal to every agency you need immediate rescue. Then establishes coms with them to describe the current situation.

    @Sixthelement really nailed it there.

I have two currently as they are a mandatory add-on through my booking software when someone takes one of my trucks out into the wild. Gives novices a guaranteed way to get a hold of me, and then life-saving services, in the event that they get in over their heads.

Probably not a necessary purchase for everyone, as I probably wouldn't have one if I wasn't giving it to my customers, but a really nice piece of mind if you ever feel disconnected from society while out and about.

    Thanks guys.
I got my Midlands the other day. We played with the walkies a bit they had decent range and clarity throughout my neighborhood non line of sight. Man the antennas are small. The 3db antenna is in the package

These fell out when I opened my rooftop tent. Any ideas on what they are?

I have to open two of my CVT RTT's in the next two days. I'll take a look for something similar looking and let you know what I find.

Got my midland in the mail and just applied for a license. Waiting on the antenna. Ended up going with the MXT400

Damn, going all out again with the 400!

My 275 is all ready to go.

Also, I checked both of my CVT tents this afternoon. Can't find any piece that looks similar to what you posted. Both of mine are extended flys, one is a first gen Rainier, and the other is a current gen Shasta. Sorry, but I have no idea what those are.

hehe might as well. I wonder if they’re somehow part of the ladders because they dropped next to it. Maybe preventing over collapsing of then when it folded on top of the tent.

lol I don’t know exactly what spurred it. But CB radio kinda sucks so we were brainstorming and found out multiple people were on the GMRS fence.

After using with coms to you. Yes, it pushed me over the edge.
While I do also have Yeasu FT- 2800M that I have not installed. Partly because im still trying to figure out HAM stuff. I'll eventually learn it and install it.

Gmrs is so user friendly, even if you get into repeaters. I talk to a buddy in Pine. I can't do it directly because of the granite mtn between us, so we use the public repeater on diamond point and chat away.

HAM is a little more learning curve, but nice in that it communicates on all the frequencies, so, really you could have skipped gmrs altogether and been just fine.

My HAM has been mostly un-used since getting into GMRS. So who knows, you may not care much about HAM past just playing with it.

When we meet up next you'll have to teach me about connecting to repeaters. Read on it, but more of hands on. The two i've found here in Flagstaff require permission? to join and the links for em are dead end loops it seems.

I'll stick to my Ham equipment for this trip. My transceiver can tune to GRMS freqs.
