I plan to hook my camper (topper) shell's third brake light up...do I need to disconnect the stock one on the cab of the truck? It's covered by the topper but wondering I should disconnect it??

    Thanks

No need to disconnect. Leer wired the camper brake light to the rear brake lights and left the cab light alone.

I had mine disconnected when I got my topper. Simple because I didn't want it glowing in my rear view mirror in between the cab and the topper at night. Distracting.

Pull the bulbs out before the shell goes on. The glow will drive you crazy and it's a real pain in the ass to get to the bulbs once the shell is on.

If the rear window wasn't tinted it might bug me but I barely notice the glow. Between the tint of the truck window and tint of the camper rear window I can't see out the back at night anyway.

Never even noticed mine, there's a very faint red tint that you can see with the brakes on but otherwise I can't even tell. Maybe it depends on the brand?

I left mine hooked up so all I have to do is pull the shell and everything will still work as it should, no bulbs to replace.
