Add me to the list. My 6 year old son was sitting in the back and said, "Dad, I,m getting wet." Naturally I checked the slider. Then saw the rainbow colored liquid wax dripping from both sides of the headliner. I came unglued. I told my older son I felt like punching someone in the face. My younger son thought he was in trouble. I told him I appreciate him letting me know, not your fault. But, this is unacceptable. Dealer wanted me to wait till next week and shuttle me to work. Not gonna happen. Taking in tomorrow and leaving with them. You would think they would want to fix it before there is more damage. I took a picture of it dripping for proof. Still LIVID! Also having an issue with they back left corner of my composite box rubbing on the composite on the tailgate. Not huge, but over time may wear through. That is another day though.

Just had terrible rain down in south Florida opened my back seat up and it was soaked! Took it to Toyota and they’re fixing it. I’m just under 34,000 miles so I’m very happy it didn’t happen in a few more months. Told the part was on back order and they’d call when it’s in. Anyone know how long these have been taking on back order?

Update: Called dealer last week and he ordered parts and informed me it was a TSB and fully covered. Took about two hours to fix today at the dealer and didn’t cost me a dime.

Is there a TSB number or something to reference? I'd like to call my dealer and get it fixed as well. Thanks

Forgot to upload the picture of what Toyota said was a “temporary fix” they said there were 6 total currently on back order from the factory out of California hoping it comes before we get anymore rain.

I looked at my receipt this morning and it does not reference a TSB number. A quick search thru Toyota you should be able to find it. The head service manager confirmed is was definitely a TSB on the third tail light assembly. Hope this helps....

I think we need a poll here. Was your light leaking because of a bad gasket or cracked housing ?
Bead of silicone around the edge won't help a cracked housing occuring.

That's what I did on my own while waiting for the part to come in due to forecasted thunderstorms, it does work.

Why do you have a strip of electrical tape on the roof?

I had brought it in taped up with black electrical tape prior to them messing with it. They just took it off and through it on the roof

You can go the the NHTSA's website and get a list of TSBs which looks to be a comprehensive list since it includes items for pre-delivery.

    The URL is ---> https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

You can search by your VIN or select the vehicle tab and search by year/make/model.

I found other sites that took this information and are charging fees for instructions on DIY repairs or fixes if the dealership will not.

I used the blue painters tape to prevent residue, its really not as noticeable since the light is high up.

That will only bring up safety recalls. It won't bring up TSBs.

Go to the site, select Recalls, select Vehicle, enter your year/make/model and search, select the # under the Manufacturer Communications, scroll down and you'll find the TSB information NHTSA has.

A few listed in the signature
I pre emptively did black RTV silicone years ago. I'm sure I'd have had a problem now if I hadn't.

What did you say for them to fix it? I called my dealer and they are saying they don't know anything about that.

Had the 3rd brake light leak. Dealer told me they are aware of the problem the light was over torqued at the factory causing damage to the gasket.I didnt have any hassle they took care of it as soon as the new headliner arrived and a complete new light and gasket ! They had my truck for a day and a half.

I went direct to service manager and explained the issue. He said there was a TSB on the third brake light gasket being bad. I didn’t get my headliner replaced just the lamp assembly. They had my truck for about two hours.

I've called two dealerships and both had zero knowledge of any third brake light gasket TSB.
