Judging by her current situation, I say next time she'll claim that the foot pedals switched sides.

I see a lot of people do a lot of really dumb stuff on the roads every day. I'm always curious about what it is about them that causes the terrible driving.

Incompetence? Aggression? Laziness? A combination of these things?

My truck has surged "through" the brake pedal before. But, it was when I put it in gear. They surge backing up as well (mostly in low speed parking situations).

It makes getting in and out of tight spots super convenient. I'd typically fall back on "this person probably slammed the gas instead of the brakes" but with the aggressive surging these things are capable of, I will have to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Whole bunch of keyboard heroes in this thread. Heaven forbid a few Tacos may have issues. And blame the writer for the misspelling, not her. (BTW they've been fixed in the article)

I have also had this problem while in gear only with brake pedal depressed. Never heard of a vehicle doing this while in park. Leads me to believe it was not in park as she thought and possibly in neutral when the vehicle surged. The distance from the curb to the wall looks to be around 3-4 feet never have I had mine surge that far maybe a foot or less. But again only while in gear. Maybe she put it in neutral took her foot off the pedal thinking it was in park and it surged. I guess time and Toyota will tell.

Yeah theres nooooo way our precious toyotas could have an issue! My 3rd gen has been great, she's just a woman who needs money, can't drive, doesn't know the difference between the brake and the gas

    Toyota problem in the past:

and I'm sure many others. Weird seeing so much blind faith towards a corporation who will have their own best interest in mine. You'd think the rest of the 3rd gen owners on this thread would benefit from toyota investigating the issue at the very least...

I think its the Russians hacking into the ECU and causing this to happen, they are trying to undermine our Democracy by putting doubt in our minds about the reliability of our Trucks

How about letting the facts come out first. Could be true or could be total BS. Good thing the truck is new enough to have records.

    Now I'm curious.

But as she keeps driving it, won't this data be overwritten eventually?
