I'm betting she hit the gas pedal just like every old woman out there who has done so.

Don't be so quick to judge the lady's acceleration incident. Back several years ago when Toyota's unintended acceleration incidents was going on with gen 2's and other toyota vehicles, I had a mail order business going, and was back and forth to the post office daily to mail parcels, well one morning at about 75,000 miles on my Gen 2 Tacoma 4x4, I pull in to park with foot on brake, still in drive, the stupid truck floored itself for no reason smoking the tires, overpowering the brake, it jumps a curb over some bushes headed toward some new business bldgs in front of me 25 ft away, I managed to turn off the ignition switch as soon as I saw what was happening and got it stopped straddling bushes and curb, was super scary, and not my fault period, it happened again a few weeks later but at a stop sign on the way to the post office near there, same thing I pulled up to the stop sign with brake on due to automatic, and all of a sudden it starts a burnout, I immediately switched off the ignition and restarted, all was fine, fortunately the intersection was quiet and only me there. Toyota "fixed" this Major problem, in a bogus recall where they cut off the bottom of the accelerator pedal, etc, with the real software fix attached to the bogus recall notice below in fine print. After this fix, I have had no more problems with unintended acceleration and am now at 164K on odometer, at that time there were a lot of guys with same problem. Some rear ended other vehicles at stop lights, etc. We all registered the problem after experiencing it first hand, but were blown off by Toyota as owners fault. Magically after the "fix" was done you heard no more reports of this with gen 2's. There was some serious malfunction of the software thats for sure. Possibly software having something to do with the cruise control is my best guess, it was the only direct connection to the gas pedal other than an owners foot.

The fact that Toyota addressed these issues on top of the unlikely chance that she had multiple system failures, leads me to doubt her story. BTW, that sounded like a scary ride. Glad you're ok.

This reflects one side of the story. This is why lawyers race to get their client's version made public well before all the facts can be disseminated. Guilty in the court of public opinion.

    Oh well, That's the brakes.....(sic)

If this ever happens to me I'm gonna keep my big mouth shut, get my truck fixed and go on with my life. After I traded in the truck of course.

No way, it was the trucks fault. She should have gotten a ridgeline.

Maybe Toyota finally figured out a way to eliminate the stupids by having their own truck run into them?
