I don't know for sure i wasn't there but If the truth was know its probably drivers error and she don't want to own up to it. Blame toyota for her mistake is probably whats going on.

looking to score free money, just like the floor mat debacle where Toyota had to pay out millions because of the use of a non secured aftermarket floor mat installed by the owner

She is really a TW lurker who has been told her shift happy trans was a normal characteristic of the truck and the TSB didn't help, decided to try to fix it on her own

The other part of it which Jeeps had the same design was a very large transmission tunnel which forced the location of the gas pedal to be further to the left than most other vehicles. Drivers not used to this location made mistakes.

debacle, I dont know about that... 4 people died in a firey crash because the dealerships rental car employee never pursued the "stuck/sticking" throttle pedal due to an aftermarket floor mat that had been reported on at least one occasion before the accident.

I got around to actually watching the news clip and I have to say in the interview she didn't seem too believable.

sucra; Only going by the way mine behaved before the TSB, it seems these trucks are so inconsistent.

So aggravating, as though I am making my own assumption so could be wrong, but almost guarantee it wasn't in park and then lunged like that into a wall causing that much damage. I'm willing to bet someone is in over their head with bills, debt, new truck, etc. Made a mistake, realizes they can't afford to remedy it, assumes no responsibility and blames Toyota. Whatever happened to personal accountability these days. But again I could be wrong. Just hate seeing Toyota smeared for this. Does the truck surge yes, I've experienced it, but never while in park or to the extent she described and shown in damage, lets be realistic here, a betting man would say driver error here. End rant.

She also had the Truck for only 4 days. Not enough time for her to get used to the Truck. Which could mean she thought she was in park and pushed the gas pedal. There is no way for her Truck to overpower the brakes like that from idle.

If a transmission was going to slip out of park and into gear, it would slip into reverse, not drive. If she had her foot firmly on the brake, the brakes should have held the truck, full throttle or not, tried it on multiple vehicles the first time this crap was in the news back in 09 or 10. Toyota now has throttle override with more than 1/3 throttle and brakes are applied. Airbags don't go off until the speed of impact is up around 30, I believe.

She's out to lunch. Or else this is another scheme to screw Toyota in the media.

Is the brake pedal offset to the left on a 3rd gen?

Can someone point me to the link of the thread showing the Colorado/Canyon doing this or is this a still Toyota specific problem?
