That's how I got the website via Google Images. I meant to copy an image but I selected 'open link in new tab' by mistake instead. And I noticed that site has bunch of images. So I posted a link instead of image.

I read someone found Toyota ratings tailgate is 400lbs. Remember that cable and hinge is just a screw. The hinge at the bottom of the tailgate is just a screw (bolt). Holding the tailgate. I added a SS hose clamp to prevent a easy removable for my tailgate, I am sure it will not stop the thieves.

The tailgate is a double side sheet metal too. But anything can be done.
Sounds like a trailer maybe a smarter idea? Vs damages to the Tacoma bed and tailgate?

Better yet , use your friends Tacoma first? Lol

IMHO, pickup beds are for stuff you can lift by hand or in rare occasions with a fork lift. I know you can roll/drive stuff up a ramp, but in those cases a trailer makes more sense to me. The taco’s bed and payload is teeny tiny. My 4x4 DCSB has about 600 lbs of payload capacity left over with just me and a few bits gear and armor. That said it preforms like a champ at 5000 lbs.

I have seen a few places that rents trailers? Most Home Depot and Lowes sells trailers too. Reasonable prices.
In fact , the landscapers all have trailers, many buy them from these box stores.

My trailer had small tires, I ended up fitting in 32 inch tires. For off roading. Wish I install a spinning hitch mount.

I provided the dimensions earlier, 42 1/2" between wheel wells, cart thread width about the same, max width across sidewalls is 44". And it's a long bed.

I broke my 1999 Ford Ranger tailgate cables two times, got old and worn out. When you see the above pictures, notice the screw holding the cables, those screws can be a weakness too , besides the cables and clamps of the cable holders.

Not sure you understand, I'm towing the Tacoma behind our RV and plan on carrying a golf cart in the truck. I already have a golf cart trailer but don't wish to double tow and deal with trailer storage in the campground.

I was one of the 2nd gens who bent their tailgate.
Loading motorcycles in my '05 slightly bent it in a V shape. It would still latch but you could see the gap was larger at the top on both sides and a slight bow when open. TSB replaced it with the V2 tailgate that I was told contained a new "stiffening plate" across the top. Never had another issue.

You don't give these trucks much credit. I've had minis (before Tacos), a 1st gen Taco, Gen 1 and 2 Tundras, and a FJ Cruiser before this Taco. I put over 3,000 pounds in my first one several times after upgrading the tires to 6 ply and adding helper springs. And this bed is nearly identical in size to my first Tundra so wouldn't call it "teeny tiny"!

I'm towing the Tacoma behind our RV so trailering the GC is out. I already have a trailer for it but not going to double tow. The payload is 1,440 lbs so there's plenty of capacity and since it's being towed, there's no passenger weight.

400 pounds seems reasonable and also a little light for my intended purpose. I also bet the limit is based on the cables which is how I got here in the first place...looking for rigid support bars to use instead of the cables.

I'm towing the Taco behind our RV so trailering the golf cart is not an option.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
An inch and a half is an awful large difference to wedge between the wheel wells. It may be tire sidewall, but there is only so much give. Maybe you can make some blocks to run the tires over the wheel wells. Good luck.

The wheel wells angle away from the center so the width at the height of the max tire sidewall is probably equal to the cart width. If not I was planning to lay down some 1 x 6 planks. It won't take much to create the needed clearance.

Check your door jam sticker, payload on a long bed sport generally maxes out at around 1100lbs on an access cab, less on a double cab.

Yeah l think the DCLB has the lowest payload of the entire Tacoma lineup.
