Third Key for my 3rd Gen on the way

If you go to this site: https://www.toyota.com/recall

And enter your Vin you should see something about your third-key being
available at any dealer. So I slipped in during a lull in the service line and
sure enough, the guy took my info, said the key would be made and sent.

No idea how long it will take, but I'm happy it's being processed.

 

? Third key fob? This a 2021 thing?

 

I think its just a key, not a third fob, the dealership gave me two fobs and another key with my 2021,

 

How come when I run my vin it says 2007 5cly Colorado?

Oh it's a key thing. Somewhere along the line you only got 2 keys and you should have gotten 3.
So now I suppose they are getting caught up.

 

Well, there's the reason the TRD lift kit was pure hell to install.

 

The 3rd key is a valet key .

 

Mine came up blank, but the salesman did say I was only getting the two fobs and no Valet key (2021 manual transmission).

I’m still going to ask when I go in for service, “make them say no”.

 

I only got 2 fob keys with my '21 manual. Just get yourself a MESO Flip Fob. You have to chop up one of your keys to get the chip out for it but it leaves you with an extra key to lock doors/glovebox. No chip so won't start the truck.

 

I got 2 fobs and a key with my 2021 last week. Nothing comes up for me.

 

I think M/T's only come with two keys with fobs built-in. I bought my '20 in April of '20 before the chip shortage and only got two keys with the built-in key fobs. Didn't bother me, I'm the only one who drives my Taco so the only time the spare key leaves it's hook is when I go on trips and want an extra key with me.

My thought why the M/T didn't come with a Valet key, there aren't many Valet's left who can drive a M/T LOL!

 

Nothing on my VIN either. I did get 2 fobs, 1 key in each, and a larger (regular sized) key so I think I got everything when I took delivery.
