Hooked up the throttle, bled the brakes, and hooked up the e brake today. Now she moves again on her own power again. I have to hook up the shift lock. the 2x4 cab had a column shift, so the wiring is not where I need it. When the steering column was removed, they clipped the wiring. This will not be a problem. I solved the same issue when I put the tundra wiring in the 03 Tacoma for the v8 swap. The Tundra had a column shift. I still need to weld up the exhaust also along with finishing the front 4x4 system...and fenders...and head lights...and registration... Im going to drive this thing while I work on the 05 prerunner conversion. Fenders optional, LOL December 13th 2017DSC00575.jpg

Did you polish that door up?

You know what funny is that it looks like a junker from the outside, but if you open it up, the interior is nice and clean lol

I know, It will be the best part of it. Runs good, feels good, looks like new inside, and a POS from the outside. At least it is a Toyota. Other makes, I would loose my ass on a rebuild like this.

I cut out the radiator support. I used a pinch weld drill bit. I ground off the excess. I hammered out the inner fender and set the new support in. I also set the fenders on just to get a look at it. Here it is.DSC01081.jpg DSC01084.jpg DSC01087.jpg DSC01085.jpg DSC01088.jpg DSC01089.jpg DSC01091.jpg DSC01090.jpg DSC01093.jpg

What was wrong with the old one - I couldn't make out any damage on it?

DSC01083.jpg The damage was not that bad. I could have hammered it out. I am going to put a 01 to 04 tacoma front clip on the truck. I could have gone with 99 or 01 style. I chose 01 style because the hood I have on the truck is damage, so I will get another. As the fenders go, 01 to 04 can be used on a 99 just by removing the bracket the headlights attach to.

Figured it must be on the far side in the photo I was looking at. Yeah I don't see too many people restoring these and sticking with the 96-00 style front clips. They make 1 piece headlights for the 01+ too.

I had a set on the 03 v8 conversion. They ended up being a pain in the ass. I went to change the alternator and I had to remove the electric fans, the radiator, the head lights with the grill, and the ac condenser. But hay they sure look cool, LOL

So I have not been on in a while, June! LOL, but I have been busy. I got the 01 04 taco hood, grill and lights. The auto trans I had in it did not have drive or over drive gears. It seems I burned them out bringing this pile home with the pre swapped 03 v8 truck. I installed a 5 speed manual. I cut out the old trans crossmember mounts from frame, ordered a new cluch, installed 5 speed, mounted crossmember, welded mounts in new location, change cab wiring, changed engine wiring, mounted hydrolic cylinders with clutch pedal, changed brake pedal, got another set of wheels, made the best of 2 front 99 bumpers. I am still missing some pieces, but it is looking like a truck again.

I had to steel the manual hubs for my 2nd gen prerunner to 4x4 conversion. I did not have another set. I did have auto hubs lying around. I put them in a set of non abs steer knuckles with new wheel bearings. That would leave me with a type of full time 4x4. I changed out the front diff to an add style. I had to figure out how to make it work. Thanks to COMAtized99 for sending me a wiring diagram, I was able to build relay wiring to work the system. Yesterday I went to the wreaking yard and fished around in a 90s 4runner. It had add. The wiring was different colors, but I was able to track down the add relay. It was behind the dash gauges above the steering column. It has fuel pump relay printed on it (multi purpose) I guess. So last night I built a wiring harness. I did not know if it would work. Today I tried it out and the relay switched on. So a friend and I hooked it up and plumed it to vacuum. It worked!!! I put it in 4x4 and tried it out on the 30 year old grass pile. I had fun. All of this work and I finally got to mess around on the grass pile YAHOO! To be honest I thought about bagging this project more than a time or two.

So I am not sure if I really did this correctly, but It works. After figuring out how the ADD relay worked, I needed to hook it up in the final position. The engine bay had the ADD vacuum solenoid wiring. It went into the cab into one side of the plug, but not the other. I looked at all my wiring. 3 cabs and 3 engine bay head light side.
    DSC00235.jpg
I was looking for wiring I could use for the relay. The original white 99 cab had a 2.7 auto with manual hubs. It was also wired with the add relay and 4wd computer pig tail. I think they did this because it had an automatic transmission.
    DSC00236.jpg
So I fished the ADD relay wiring pig tail out. It was located at the passenger kick panel. It ran to J/B #3 all but the two wires that run to the plug by the fuse box.
    DSC00237.jpg
So 5 wires 2 black and yellow. I ran to acc on power in J/B 3 in the new cab
    DSC00246.jpg
The red with white stripe I ran into the back of the dash to a green with back stripe. This wire is grounded when switching from 2x4 to 4x4 and the 4x4 light comes on. the other two wires I ran to the plug at the left kick panel. It works. I wonder if I will be blowing a fuse. I still need to locate the relay. I was thinking of the glove box for easy access.

I was bothered by how I ran the ADD power wires black and yellow stripe. I tied them into the gray and red striped, but I did not what system they powered.
    DSC00246.jpg
So I pulled out the wiring loom I got the ADD relay pigtail from. I followed the back with yellow stripe from junction block 3 to the main fuse box. I unpinned the wire from the back of the fuse box. I marked the location with a sharpie.
DSC00257.jpg I then took apart the bottom dash to get to the one in the truck. The plug at the back had an empty slot. When turned the the key to on, the pin had power.
    DSC00258.jpg
I then installed the black with yellow stripe and ran it to the junction block 3. I moved the ADD wires to run off of this system alone.
    DSC00259.jpg
    DSC00260.jpg DSC00263.jpg
So I believe I can now rest.
This junction block also had illumination going to it. green with red stripe power side and white with green stripe negative side. The only radio antenna I could find was a power antenna from an 98 4runner. I got the antenna relay with it. I wired the relay into the radio system, but I was a little board. I used the ECT button from the automatic transmission to make a power antenna switch. It is a 4 wire switch. 2 for Illumination and two for the system. I ran the illumination to junction block 3 and tied into the others wires of similar color. The other 2 I ran to the antenna relay and the radio antenna power. For this switch I did not have to cut or splice any wires. I just repined them. Now the radio antenna works like normal with the antenna going up and down with power or when switching from tuner to cd, only I now have the option of turning the antenna off while keeping the radio on in the AM/FM tuner position. This can be help full at car washes or 4x4ing the bush with the local radio station tuned in.
