ok so I've noticed it for a while just haven't gotten around to figure out what is going on until now..

so the reason i decided to measure the distance between my tire and mudflap is because my driver side front tire rubs when turned all the way to the left. it has stock rims and stock size BFG a/t's. so there is no reason for it to be rubbing.. I've replaced that fender, either the LCA or UCA can't remember it was so long ago. I've been in 6x accidents so right now I'm just hoping my frame isn't messed up.
(basically the driver side is 3" from mudflap and passenger side is 4"..)
    driver side.

    passenger side.

so my question is. what could be causing this and how can i fix it?

6 accidents? Holy demolition derby, Batman!

I don't know if it's any consolation but my rear axle sits farther back in the wheel well from center and my passenger side and driver side aren't exactly equidistance either.

But that's the rear... don't know if it helps you with the front.

eh i just got the master bushing set from energy suspension put in like 5 or 6 months ago (i think this was happening before that..) the reason i got the bushing is because my alignment literally couldn't be done because my old bushing were so worn down. although i haven't put the LCA or UCA bushings in yet or the ones that go on the coil overs. but i don't see those bushings giving me a full inch difference. right after that i got my alignment done and they didn't say anything about not being able to do it correctly or anything.

Don't wanna rub it in... but sheesh! 6???

Yeah, check alignment, etc.. but with that many accidents, who knows what all could be tweaked or bent.

yea i know i feel like such an irresponsible driver haha.. a lot of them were very close together and were when i first started driving. some were even debatable wether they were my fault or not. (no witnesses = my fault tho) I've only had like 1 or 2 the past 3 years. alignment has been done recently so almost 100% thats not it.

I'm going to measure between the mudflap and the door on each fender to make sure they match because the driver side fender is not a toyota fender its a cheapo 50$ one.

taco lean on drivers side could make tire rub.

are your tires turned at all? that can make a difference.

for your peace of mind my taco only rubs driver side too. so do alot of other tacos

i know during alignment the lower control arm may be moved forward or back to get proper alignment...that's what i was refering to. they may have had to adjust it forward to align it properly.
if you're driving IN the city of San Francisco, 6 accidents sounds about right....i hate driving IN the city there.

but technically the tires shouldn't rub even with the suspension maxed out right? i know that my passenger side doesn't rub when its maxed out.. just doesn't seem right.

hmm interesting did not know that. that seems like it might be it. i guess ill have to ask about it when i get my alignment done after i put my new suspensions in. hahaha tell me about it!!! i used to do plumbing in pacific heights and literally like 20 miles of city driving everyday. To get 1 block over you have to go 5 blocks around all the one ways. one of them was down in palo alto tho. not having ABS sucks when it rains.. especially for a new driver.

Do you normally pull in or back in to park? If pull in try backing in and then measure and see if i changes. Sounds like lower control arm bushings. My wheels dont sit centered either and i can feel them move foward when backing up my driveway.

back in usually. but i think when i parked to take those pictures i just pulled in. sounds like an interesting idea tho ill definitely give it a try and see if there is any difference. another thing not sure if this helps but might explain the worn LCA bushings.. i like to do urban 4x4ing haha whenever i park parallel 70% of the time i ride up on the curb just for shits n giggles. i don't get to do much offloading YET.

Someone has your caster pushed quite a bit. You usually put caster further forward on the passenger so it tracks the road better as most roads are convex. If we were in lets say britain or Japan you would push the caster further forward on the drivers side. That could explain why it is overly exaggerated on your truck.

hmm very interesting. learn something new everyday on this forum :). what could be the fix to get my caster not pushed back as much? new LCA and UCA bushings? i just want to be able to get a bigger size tire someday (after my suspension is installed). and don't want to worry about it rubbing super bad.

Where has your truck been hit, how, speed of impact, what did it hit. Lets see what is tweaked. Also get the new bushings in first and then get a realignment to see how it sits. Also ask for the print out to see what your numbers are at. If you pull it back you could end up pulling instead of driving straight. Speaking of which how does it drive, does it pull at all while moving at normal speeds?

Click my pic on my sig. My shit was totaled right before I bought it and now she is almost mint encase you are scared of dumping money into your truck.

well let me go thru my accidents.
1st one was hit rear passenger side on a left turn stupid taxi cab hit me at about 20 - 30 mph. my truck was fine except the fat dent by my tail light. 2nd was me hydroplaning down a fat hill at about 20 - 30mph 2 parked cars stopped me(this is the one i replaced my dr side fender and UCA i think. the UCA was pretty messed up i could barely drive it away and it was a PITA to get off.) 3rd one was me hydroplaning and made a chain effect of rear ending on about 3 cars was going aprx 10-20 mph skidded about 20 - 30 feet before hitting. 4th was me trying to pass this idiot driver parked in the middle of an intersection he was waiting for a parking spot. his rear bumper got caught in my passenger side rear wheel well i was going like 5mph. 5th was me rear ending some volvo at like 5-15mph of course i was starring at some booty. 6th and final one was me rear ending some toyota carolla at about 25 - 35mph i skidded like 10 or 20 feet before i hit him. the majority of the blow was to the driver side tho

i love my truck so putting money into it is not an issue with me.

also it does seem to wander sometimes and if i let go of the steering wheel it definitely starts going to one side or the other.. although its weird sometimes it stays straight and sometimes it doesn't.

lol. i have been driving really carefully the past few years and my insurance is finally going down. and this was all in a span of about 6 years or so (80% in the first 2 or 3years). the funny thing about it all is that most of my buddies are worse than me and I've had my license for a longer time.
