sounds like a big number smitty99 but it works out to be about 32,000 usd with our shitty canadian dollar. which is probably close to what you guys pay for a loaded trd sport i would assume.

what does suck is the amount of tax we pay. i know theres some benefits but the tax is insane.

Id try a paintless dent removal first. Painting that sucker is going to jack your insurance rates and may not be necessary. Plus it's in an area you're almost never going to look at so even if they only get it to 98% better it's not like it's the hood or the driver door that you'll always look at. Anyway its your money.

My ex had one of these gates come smashing down on her head. She ended up with a traumatic brain injury and needed to spend the next 4 weeks in bed with a severe concussion. That was years ago and she has since recovered but it messed her up pretty bad for a long time. I hate those gates.

Definitely start out with paintless dent removal to remove any dents (those guys can work wonders) and I bet a reputable detailer could make those scratches look a whole lot better, although maybe not perfect

EDIT: After looking at the pictures again, if all that is "paint" transfer from the gate arm, you're in luck.

Ahh, I couldn't tell the damage from the pictures. That's very unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear how extensive the damage is. Best of luck to you.

Might think about adding some foam to underside of those gate arms. I've seen many parking garages have foam on them. I bet it would help prevent some of the damage

similar thing happened to me on a new van I bought years ago. Went to the "touchless" car wash and after a few minutes the washing arm came down on the roof near the back and did some damage. I was sick....I think the owner's insurance paid for it. Bottom line is get it fixed and forget about it..and don't go to them touch less car washes..:)

Holy balls!! Was that gate lined with shark teeth? The gates I see usually have some kind of padding on the bottom for this reason.

Glad to hear it. Having something like that happen to a brand new vehicle of mine would be traumatic lol

I'm the same way. Been babying my 2008 since I started driving it in 2012. But that is expensive damage. Hope you're taking it to a reputable body shop. Paint overspray is a PITA to deal with. Definitely be prepared to have a detailer to finish off the body shop's work.
