I don't want another diesel. I bet a bunch of diesel fans have never actually owned one.

I have no interest in a diesel Tacoma. Who wants a mini truck you gotta put DEF in and run down the highway for a regen every week? Stupidest idea ever, but would match those Raptor grille lights nicely.

Define "legit". Because that looks like a brand new diesel in a brand new truck, seems pretty legit to me.

New diesel vehicles are supposed to have DEF, no? It’s an emissions control thing that has to do with the exhaust.

They are, plus a DPF filter. Most places have emissions testing after a brand new diesel is 4 years old. After that, either every other year or every year for testing. This Tacoma would fail on visual pretty easy.

I would love a diesel Taco, but the benefits are few. The truck is only going to pull what the frame and truck can handle. A increase in fuel economy would be welcomed, but for the added cost?

If I could have ordered a diesel, I would have. Why? Reasons...

I think it's amazing this guy did what he did because it's a true one of a kind. I'm pretty sure he knows he can get an objectively better diesel truck for 60k, but it wouldn't be one of the only if not the only 3rd gen diesel powered Tacoma in the world.

People do all kinds of expensive crazy stuff with cars. I don't get the "practicality lecture" stuff either.

Guy mentioned commuting between Amarillo and CO Springs without wanting to stop. Ive been to the three major towns along that route - Dalhart, Dumas, and Raton. Yeah ok, I'll concede that its almost worth 60 grand to not have to worry about stopping at those places.

I’m assuming you are responsible for their poor rating on TripAdviser

The install MAY have been 100% perfect with decades of service.

I would be worried that having a one of a kind and it starts giving you trouble.

The $60k Dream Taco could be a nightmare

My 19 Tacoma is parked next to my purchased new, zero issue, 06 Duramax. I would have paid $5K more for a Tacoma diesel.
