When my hood and roof rusted out after 8 years, I wish I had thought of doing the same. $800 paint job later and I'm still happy with the truck but will never buy a Tacoma again.

 

Years ago I had a BMW with an issue and it was the dealership, that fought to get corporate to cover. For all I knew it was good cop/bad cop play, but they asked me to be patient while they escalated, negotiated and ultimately had the issue covered.

They gave me a loaner for about 2months.

Maybe this was bad ass customer service, maybe they felt strongly that corporate was wrong but I was really blown away.

The tech (not service manager, not service advisor) told me that they as a dealership were not scared to stand up to corporate.

I think most dealerships are beholden to or afraid of pissing off their overseers.

I damn near bought a used Quicksand OR there, but the guys at Toyota South got me into a brand-new Super White OR and I never made it to the test drive.

 

They just don't seem that great to me.

 

Guessing his Dodge or Ford buddies pranked him.
