Bad fuel economy and low hp/tq. Good numbers in 2004 when gas was $2.15/gallon and 236hp from a 4L V6 was impressive.

The need to make engines on acft more efficient was probably driven by the need to increase range and payload concurrently. I don't think the same pressures applied to cars and trucks originally.

The pressure for economy / environment friendly cars and trucks is really just starting to gain momentum.

Just my opinion and guess. :notsure:

And the Ecoboost 2.0 is EPA rated 2mpg WORSE than the 2.7 in my regular cab.
Lighter, more aerodynamic vehicle, engine just over 2/3rds the size, and gets 20% worse fuel economy.

Take power or fuel economy, but you will not get both, no matter what Ford's marketing machine tells you.

Don't think a DI "ecoboost" type 4.0 is going to get you better than 20mpg in a brick.

And while cost was always a concern, it is not a driving force in aircraft design. People will pay what they need to pay for a certain aircraft.

We could have awesome cars and trucks today if we didn't care if they cost $50k+
