Seaside is where the aquarium is, right? It's a bit more blue-collar than CB. Fishing community is what I've always thought.

Yes, aquarium. More blue collar because it's an actual working town with normal stores and businesses... CB hasn't been that way for about 20 years, it caters strictly to tourists. The last vestige of normalcy was the lumber yard they tore out 15 years ago to put in... get this... a restaurant called The Lumberyard. I know all that and I don't care though.,.. I grew up down there mid seventies and have been very aware of all the changes, yet i still want to live there. I won't be in the heart of the shit, and I won't use Hemlock to get on 101 to go to Safeway in Seaside. Anyway, I'm still wondering if my 2 year stopover in Seaside will get me all my shit ripped off. I have about 40k worth of construction tools and I've *heard* tweakers can be found in numbers in Seaside.

Tweakers can be found EVERYWHERE!!!! They are the scurge of the earth. Just try to not make eye contact and never turn and walk away from them. Gotta be aware of your surroundings at all time. But Seaside is tame compaired to the Valley!!!!

If you're worried about tools, get a trailer or storage unit for security & piece of mind. You could also look at neighborhoods in Astoria, but like mentioned above, you'll always be able to find a tweaker or two in OR.

Thanks both of you. The Seaside place is already snatched up, so the quest continues...

Thanks for the info and I have been contemplating either ID or OR. Both places look epic for outdoors and fishing. I'm a teacher and I know Idaho has a really good teacher retirement system. Not really sure about Oregon though.

Did a little mini-wheeling trip up Guano Cr. Canyon.
Top notch facilities at Guano Cr. Campground.

All in all, a pretty cool trip. Camped on Metolius River on the way home. Beautiful country down there.
Kind of a lack of Taco pics, was focusing(literally in some cases)on the scenery. Get down there if you can!

I saw, like maybe eight on the refuge. Saw a couple more on alfalfa fields down by Summer Lake-Paisley.
Caught a few little redbands on Upper Chewaucan. Sorry no pics. My plan was to fish Guano Cr. but it was the rattlesnakeyest place I have seen in a long time.

Funny thing was when we stopped in at Frenchglen they told us that they had seen a heard of 500 a week before. Guess those speed goats can hide when they want to. Only thing I don’t like about the east side of Oregon is the rattlesnakes! Seen way to many for comfort.

Yeah theres abig herd up there somewhere, I think they kinda disband a little in the summer. In the winter you can see them grouped up low down on the east side. Concerning snakes, the only place I have had a run in with them was on the Metolius, right above Billy Chinook. Stepped right over one on the river path and it rattled at me.
