So, is the screen with the valve assembly, or behind it's own separate plug? Looks there is a separate plug.

    Still thinking about it.
Good info. Thanks! Do you guys know if the same applies to a 2.7? And if so, where is it? 2.7 only has VVT on the intake cam in my 2015, I believe.

Perfect timing for me, (no pun intended) I've had a high output alternator gathering dust for a while. I'll change this screen when I pull alternator

You can just clean them, I would never do this unless there's an issue. If that line leaks after it's high pressure.

This is not a maintenance item in my opinion.

This doesn’t look so dirty it would cause issues. What symptoms were you having that made you decide to clean them?

And before y’all waste money on this, but it’s still eating away at your OCD ridden selves, pull the one on the pax side and take a look. Driver side will most likely look the same

You just described me...lol I'll look at the passenger side filter first to see if further maintenance is required. I'm pretty OCD about oil changes, so I don't expect to see any problems, but you never know...lol

Replaced mine today at 156k, a little dirty but not clogged. Bought the truck with 100k on the clock so this was more for peace of mind. These should be a service item though.

Why, you just said it yourself it wasn’t clogged. Changes your oil is a service item and if that’s done then these won’t gunk up

Exactly lol. Or run some SeaFoam through the motor if so inclined to clean things up a bit. People w/ 3 and 4x as many miles havent cleaned or replaced theirs. Save the money and time.

Would this also apply to the 2.7L 4cyl?

FYI.. If your truck is throwing a P0022 code, cleaning or replacing these filters is a common solution to the issue causing that code.

I feel like something is different with my truck when accelerating pedal to the floor. Manual transmission. Like I have lost top end power. Almost like a hollow feeling. Could be my imagination, but if I lost VVT would I get a check engine light?
