Well sounds like you don’t have the time to do it yourself.. so you are either spending money.. or spending more money...unfortunately.

Alright so im back from the shop.
heres the whole story now that i have time to write it out. couple weeks ago i hosted a TW Group meet where about 12-13 members attended and we had a really good time. one member of our group got separated from the pack and so i was rushing down a tight and winding trail to find him going too fast for the conditions. my Pass side tire clipped a protruding and partially submerged stump which yanked the steering wheel out of my hands. i got lights saying check vehicle stability system, had no power steering and my steering wheel was crank way off to the right i also later found my camber was way way off.
in a hurry to get the truck back so i could go get a barn full of old motorcycles for free i decided to let a shop take care of the work this time thinking it was a simple fix. I took the truck to Andys Automotive and Off Road thinking since they specialize in off road tucks i wont have to hear any complaints about my " funny suspension" Andy determined i needed he following

    steering pump
    steering rack
    tie rods
    hub assembly
    bearing assembly
    reaseating of cv boots
bunch of extral little shit aswell like hazmat charge and fluids and taxes

    total with labor = $4037:eek:

So i called up USAA and thy decided to cover the damage they cut me a check to to fix it minus a $500 deductable

    Thats when it got weird.

Andy seemed like a nice guy but then he kept asking for money in advance and deposits before the job was done. I was considering upgrading my rack with a tundra rack so while trying to compare prices i realized Andy was trying to gouge me on parts so i told him i would get the steering rack. I found one for $650 instead of his quoted $1200 im thinking this will save me from having to pay a deductible! He said that was no problem at all.
Then today when i told him i found a new OEM rack from our local Toyota for $645 instead of the $1200 he got mad said he was going to charge a 10 percent markup on labor now because he didnt get to make a mark up the parts! Then he told me thats just the way it is and that hes "in the business of making money" then called me buddy which i fucking cant stand so i said "thats funny im in the business of saving money" hung up and drove over there and took my truck out. He was pissed and slammed my key down on the table and tried to walk away. He just lost a 2000+ dollar job by trying to weasel an extra hundred out of me for no reason. He also had to pay me back 100 bucks he tried to sneak in there for no reason. Plus hes lost my business for life. I had originally been exited i found a good shop to get all my future work done at.

I have to get the truck from Washington to Socal by the tenth of December for a photoshoot/film and i still have rear end suspension work to do. so i can either get it done on insurances dime with a better shop and definitely make it to Cali where ill make some cash for whoring out my truck
    or..
do the labor my self with some TW buds and Beer at the risk of not making it to Cali for the photoshoot in which case ill lose thousands of denaro and an unforgettable life experience

gata play my pawns rights and maneuver my cards perfectly

theres the whole story to those interested.

what would you do or have done differently?

toyota quoted me 17.3 hours labor for just the rack but they know my warranty is expired so maybe they were trying to bend me over....wait what am i saying of course they were trying to bend me over, its a Toyota dealership

SAS and LT are two very different directions in terms of builds. Some of us prefer the comforts of driving their rig 200 miles on a paved road with IFS, then still being able to run the rubicon, and then driving home.

And anyone who SAS's a 2 year old truck has more dollars than sense.
