    Someone in Arizona did something like that. He reportedly overheard some woman boasting that she, alone, approved or disapproved all personalized license plates in the state. He applied for, and got approved, "SKATA." When someone pointed out what that meant, with the "K" replaced with a "C," the woman was replaced by a committee that approves personalized plates. As I recall, the state tried to recall the plate, but was unable to until time for renewal.

    Since I'm not Greek, I can only guess. From the context I would say it is slang for excrement.
