Eat chiles or hot sauce - as hot as you can stand.
It really helps me when I have that problem.

I have a recommendation. I have the WORST allergies on the planet, so I get stopped up a lot. So much that over the counter stuff has no effect on me anymore. But about 2 years ago I bought this little ceramic thing called a "Naso Pot". Its this little tea kettle looking thing with a skinny little spout. This sounds gross but I swear it works like you wouldn't believe. You fill it up with warm salt water, lean over a sink, put your head to one side, and pour the salt water through your nose. It goes through your nasal cavity and out the other nostril facing down. So it basically dissolves all the crap in your nasal area. You would not believe all the stuff that will come out either.

Anyway, here's a link to it:

I get it bad pretty often. Mine starts off with me being so stopped up that I can't breath through my nose I went to walmart and got some Zicam they have different kinds, only the Extreme congestion works for me. It is a gel that you sniff. Works wonders for me. By keeping my nose clear it seems to help the rest of my system.
I think it allows me to get my rest and keeps my oxygenated. I also take a mixture of Mucinex, tylenol cold MD. I alternate every dose. Then I take Cepacol cough drops, they are horrible but work, if you eat them like candy they will give you sores or raw spots on your tongue, so I also use peppermint candies. Good luck.

Yeah didn't know this thread was so damned old. Tuff there is my $.02

neilmed has been a life saver for me. very similar to the netty pot and all of that with the difference being, it's a bottle with a nozzle that goes through your sinuses in a straight shot, no head tipping to the side at all.

it takes some initial getting used to be (it's sensation having water flush your upper sinus cavity) but the outcome is incredible. i haven't had a sinus infection since owning one, it reduces the length of colds considerably, and is great for allergies. other than nyquil, i haven't purchased cold/sinus medicine since owning this. 12ish dollars from any drug store, give it a shot.

Take zyrtec D. The one's behind the counter that includes pseudoephedrine. It dries me up pretty good.

If you have health insurance go to the doctor!!
I have a long history with sinus problems.
He can give you some of the good shit and make your insurance pay for it.
PS: when i was having lots of sinus pain i would boil some water and breath the steam help clear me out.
