If I use the Motivx drain tool, I tend to get a good amount of leftover oil in the oil filter housing.

That thing looks awesome. That stupid little plastic drain thing is the worst part of changing the oil. The last time I changed mine it just wouldn't snap in. I had to hold the damn thing in the whole time with oil dripping down my elbow.

I put a empty soda bottle over the plastic drain nipple and use the bottle as leverage to snap in the plastic drain tool. Once snapped in the oil drains into the empty bottle, no mess, no fuss.

Ive used them on 3 vehicles for years and have not had an issue.

ive not heard a bad thing about them from someone that actually installs it correctly.

What was the plan for removing the filter? Looks like the drain would prevent tool engagement.

The biggest issue is road debris or off road debris causing the valve to open. Chances are you may not even notice until the engine has seized. I've heard numerous people who have had low oil issues all thanks to the Fumoto valves.

I’ve literally never heard of a fumoto valve opening on its own unless it was not closed all the way. The lever is dual action. I’d more readily believe the valve ripping off the pan.

ITT: people who have never used the product (or used the product properly) talking about how it will fail in ways that are barely physically possible.

I remember getting blasted in a thread for telling someone it's not worth it with these things and like half the forum jumped me. But, yeah. I guess I was right.

You win, I won't install one on my oil filter housing.

Up and over is all it takes. Just the right debris will, and has, done it

My argument was that it takes 2 seconds to open the valve and it takes 3 seconds to unbolt the plug. The plug is secure and the valve hangs down. No upside here. But whatever, this valve is almost like discussing religion and politics on this site.

No problem with my Fumoto valve so far (15K miles~ish)

I feel like I would notice a puddle of oil under my vehicle.

as someone who does their own oil changes. It tool less so i literally get under the truck and flip the lever..... Most importantly i dont get hot oil running down my arm when you reach the last thread of the plug. Its way cleaner and quicker. Its not even close.

    No extra washers needed either

The difference is really 3-4 min to 5 seconds. From getting tools and finding the right size wrench to unscrewing the plug.

Still doesnt make sense. If i changed my oil monthly i could see taking the chance on it leaking to save some time. 2 times a year? I can spend another 10 minutes.
