^I can vouch for that (B&M shift kit in '99 Explorer V8). Not only that, but every year since '05 does it. Not saying it isn't annoying, just how it is.

One thing that i have noticed in my 5 lugger is that it is easy to slow down, but hard to bring to a stop. If that makes any sense. Under light braking it seems that you have to just barley apply pressure to get a pretty commanding amout of stopping power, and toward 15 MPH or less you have to really give the petal some pressure (not mashing it, just more in comparrison that you had to before) to come to a complete stop. Engine braking makes sense in this senario. I have talked with a few people that have late model toyotas, throttle by wire and not and alot have noticed the same thing.
    just my 2 cents

Just a thought, but when you check did you have the zone selector switch on either of the windshield options? Both windshield/feet and windshield only turn on the AC to aid in defogging the windshield. I can feel my 6speed bog down slightly when I flip to windshield/feet to clear the windshield on rainy, humid days. Wish it was like my 98 Corolla and only did that on windshield only. As it is, I usually leave it set to "feet only" since it sends air to all the vents except the 2 in the center by the radio.

Nope. It was set on the Dahs vent setting. No need to defrost anything where I live. :)

Sounds like the computer is adjusting vvt and other engine peramaters to reduce engine braking. Probably all to help improve emissions. The manufacturers have to constantly think of ways to improve emissions in every aspect.

If you reduce engine braking without reducing compression under acceleration then you increase economy, which is the principle behind the new generation 3 fake Atkinson engine principle.

I counted 9 yrs from sep 2008 to oct 2017 but yeah props on resurrecting the dead................topic related - I have an uncut full size oem gas pedal assembly to put in mine whenever the OBX pedal covers wear out that are screwed to the nub that came in the truck when I got it.

By the way as a matter of record, I put over 60,000 miles on that truck before somebody smashed it and I never had any unintended acceleration.

I replaced it with a nice low mileage 2012 and if anything it runs smoother and better than a 2009 but it is also slightly heavier so just a bit slower.

It has not had any unintended acceleration problems either.

Mine's manual so there is no such thing as unintended acceleration. Already had an override pedal called a clutch but the jerkoffs did the ecu flash to kill the motor if on gas and brake at the same time before I got ahold of it in 2011.

with the AC on, mine will move unless I press the brake harder than normal when stopped

I always had a light brake foot since I drove a stick prior 20+ years
