No surprise, it’s the Army. They have a long history of lowering standards and enlistment rules to make numbers.

 

They need a higher ASVAB score though.

Yeah when you have to man a 1 million personnel size branch (AA,RA,and guard) it gets rough sometimes.

 

I didn't post it, but a couple weeks ago I saw another article where someone realized it was a bad idea and this was reversed, so a GED is once again required as minimum entrance qualification.

 

Yeah what they don’t tell these kids is they will have a pretty limited career without a HS diploma, GED or really an AA (for SNCO postition ranks). Good luck making SFC or MSG without one of those.


If they don’t get kicked out in their first contract of course.

 

Or that you can't get that time back. After retiring, that was the biggest shock to me. Realizing how far behind my civilian counterparts I was in terms of systems and processes. Sure I've managed logistics for corps sized elements, but it really doesn't matter if I'm not fluent in the systems they use to manage logistics. So here I am in mid 40s having to start over again in terms of organizational experience.
