This will require some thinking, but I'm going to make it work.

My subs don't touch the back wall, so there's no issues there. When I give the measurements , it's of the side pieces only. There's also a hump along the back of the side piece that I didn't include in the measurement. It sticks out about 3/8" and goes in the stamping indents in the back wall, to give a nice tight fit. The front baffle adds .75" because that's the material I used. So overall, I front mounted the subs, didn't countersink them, but I could have I guess, you have about 8" on the bottom. If your sub is 7" deep, you'd want to move the mounting hole down on the box, mine is about 2.5" from the bottom, as I wanted to give clearance for the brace on the seat bottom. If you did that, I can't see you having depth clearance issues. And if you're going to fiberglass the back wall, put the deadener everywhere except over the child seat anchors. Use cardboard to form around or over the anchors, that way you can get the box out if you ever decide to, so it's not perfectly formed over the hooks preventing removal later on, and glass away. Honestly, I debated over glassing or not over and over, and in the end didn't do it. With my trimming of the side pieces and the top and bottom boards to form the frame, the box fits tight. Just use some silicone to seal it against the back wall, it stinks in the truck until it's cured, but no more than fiberglass, and figure out your port length and mount the baffle board. Don't forget some sealant between the frame and baffle board, and screw it tight. I still have some cleaning to do, I'll do it, when I pull up the carpet for deadening the floor. You should be fine with your IDQMAX sub in a box just like I designed. Don't forget the braces in the box too, as that stiffens up the back wall, preventing flex as well. I've got 3. Two evenly spaced along the top, going from the top of the frame to the cross brace, and one on the bottom, going from the bottom of the frame to the cross brace. Nothing crazy, but it adds to stiffness.

so decided to start my box yesterday and my table saw decided to throw my mdf back at me gashing my hand open and ripping my pinky off...so i wont be working on this for a few days... but will keep you posted on the box using the fiberglass

After talking with people about the differences between a real 4 ch. amp, and my Alpine Power pack, I did the following today.

Gov't gave me my money back today. Now I just have to wait for payment to clear on the CC, and I'll oorder the PDX-F4 from Crutchfield. Sweet!!

 

Paid Crutchfield through Paypal, gear on the way! Now to run new speaker wire under the drivers' seat. It NEVER ends!

 

Took the fuse out of the fuse box, and ran power, ground, remote turn on, and all four door speaker wires to under the drivers' seat. Only hard part now is somehow feeding a 4-ch 4 wire RCA from behind the deck to under the seat. The hole in the dash isn't that large, so it's going to be a bit of a challenge to get it run. Other than that, it'll be plug 'n play. Can't wait.

the hardest challenge is simply the area behind the cage.
I found placing a flash light on the bottom and shining it up wards to gain a clear path worked well for me. I did have to use a wire coat hanger as well for one or 2 problem slots.

 

Not a bad idea. Last time I ran RCA's for the amp, I pulled the console to get better access and visuals. If I can avoid that, then I'm already up a couple steps. I'll look into it.

 

So, I ordered the amp on Thursday the 17, and didn't get it until the 24th from Crutchfield. TBH, the Canadian Easter holiday was in between, so I'm not that mad. Got the amp installed, RCA's run, without having to pull the console, and hooked everything up. It's amazing. Added midbass over the powerpack I had before, and really brought out the highs. Everything has such better definition, and it's so smooth adding the PDX-F4. I don't know why I didn't add a real amp to the highs before. It's a night and day difference. I have the amp under the drivers' seat, and you wouldn't know it's there, with my Weathertech liners, both amps play hide and seek under the seats. I'm still dialling in the gains on both amps, trying to get a good balance of bass and highs, but I'm getting close, and making sure I don't clip the signal. Hell, I should be an installer instead of a letter carrier, I'm having so much fun with this.

Now I have 2 weeks to wait for my new HU, it's an anniversary gift from my wife. Then the new system will be complete, and the tuning can begin full force.

Getting an Alpine CDEHD149BT. Super excited. The deck I'm running now has been on the way out for a while, and the new one, 9 band parametric EQ, downloadable tunes from Alpine's TuneIt app, time alignment, iPod control for my iPod with all my ALAC files on it, BT calling, etc. Can't wait. I have the best wife.

 

Hertz HSK165XL's will be here tomorrow, faster than the shop said they would, gotta love that. Also got a wiring harness from Crutchfield, I'm going to run the rear speakers off the deck, and bridge the PDX-F4 to the 165's, and feed them more power. Also have a friend sending me a set of F.A.S.T. 6.5" foam rings to seal the speakers to the door, and I'm going to put some CCF foam behind the mid in the door, to break up the rear wave some.

And this weekend is the weekend of my anniversary, and my wife got me an Alpine CDEHD149BT HU, so I can play with that, and tune to my heart's content with that as well. Man, more gear coming, the HU I need, my deck right now puts out a max of 2.8V when it should be 4V. This is gonna be a great weekend!

I am curious about those Hertz. Seems like everyone on TW loves them....same with Sundown.

 

When I heard the Hertz HSK165 4 on the sound board, I liked what I heard, except for the tweeters. They were kind of bright. But when I went back after some research, myself and the salesguy realized that they had the tweeters on the +2db setting on the crossover. Once put on the -2 setting, they were nice and smooth. Then I found that most, when they buy this set, switch for the HT28 tweeters which come with the XL kit, and after talking to a few shops, I found the XL kit for the same price as the first shop was asking for the 165 4's. No brainer, I bought the HSK165XL's and paid an extra $10 to have them shipped directly to my house. I can't wait for tomorrow.

They're beautiful! Almost a shame to hide them behind the door card. And the woofers are heavy. I'm going to bridge my PDX-F4 to feed them 200w and run the rear fill off the deck. I'd get started today, but it's raining, and I have to coat the door speaker mounts in truck bed liner. Tomorrow is going to be great!

 

It's fantastic. All I have to do right now, is figure out how to apply the tunes from "TuneIt" to the deck, instead of tuning using the basic bass and treble settings on the deck. Gotta scan through the CD user manual. Other than that, the BT calling and streaming are great, the iPod search and playback are super snappy, and the radio sounds great, the HDRadio is nice. What a great wife, I asked, she bought for our anniversary.

 

I do miss my Alpine deck. Kinda makes me wish I bought one for my tacoma instead of the LOC for my stock HU, but the budget ran out! Maybe next year....
