A lot of traffic lights have cameras mounted on the cross poles to monitor intersections. Maybe contact the city traffic division to pull the footage? In Fire/EMS weve pulled it a bajillion times for accident investigations.

Cop ticketed you because left turns are all usually 100 percent at fault, either way fight the ticket down to a non moving violation.

Found a camera at the bank sitting on the corner. They are going to let me review the video. Hopefully it’s good news.

Or maybe i fucked up and it’ll be a great video to show at family functions.

I have seen some people that watch the light on the cross street rather than their own. As soon as they see the other one turn yellow they start creeping forward. Very impatient people.

Sweet. I wonder if her car had any damage prior to this incident that she never reported to her insurance company

I’ll do my best! The good news is my insurance company was great about it. Scheduled to be fixed on Dec. 26. I’ll probably still have to pay my deductible... but with any luck I’ll get out of the traffic violation I was issued.

As a quick update, we subpoena'd the security camera footage of the accident. The camera shows the intersection but the bank wouldn't show us the footage without the proper request. The truck is in the body shop and should be finished next week. Body shop quoted $3,900 for a new door, cab corner, rocker panel, and paint.

To make this better, my truck failed the frame test! So come February I'll be getting a new frame, brake lines, uca's, lca's, and everything else that the dealership determines is too rusty. The kicker is, I paid $10,500 for the truck two years ago... it only has 90K miles on it so i couldn't be happier. 2017 is ending pretty well I would say.

Also, I'd check with the Cops / RMV and check to see how many accidents on that light. Sometime a "dangerous" intersection can be enough to put the fault to 50/50. Also, go watch the light cycle for an hour around the same time of the day - to see if it's screwy - and check to see if the lights had been repaired/worked on recently.

I finally got some video! Not sure how much it helps me but look for yourself. At 17:17:24 I enter the intersection in the top right corner of the video. At 17:17:27 the white 4 door gmc enters the intersection. It doesn’t show impact but it does show me in the intersection long before she was....

The reason you were ticketed I think is because you really shouldn't have taken that left turn with the traffic congestion in that intersection. The intersection was not clear therefore you should not have went. Even though your light is green, the other cars have control until it clears. The other truck probsbly did run the red light, but ago in the intersection was clogged and they probably assumed no one would pop out on the other side of the congestion. Just my opinion. But I am pretty sure the laws state intersection has to be clear, just like pedestrians being all the way onto the curb before your allowed to proceed.

Fair enough. It does look like the intersection isn’t clear but I don’t remember having to turn out of the normal path to go through the intersection. Still doesn’t make me right... but maybe the insurance companies will look at it as no fault and not hike my premium.

I am not saying your right or wrong, just what I think from that video at that distance. I feel like a 3rd base umpire trying to make the call at first base

I agree. I think the only thing going for me is the 4 seconds or so between me pulling out and the other truck entering the video.

Glad everyone was ok first of all. Glad your truck can be repaired secondly.

The video evidence my not be conclusive but from what it looks like you were in the intersection well before the white truck. If indeed you had a green light I don't see how you'd be at fault regardless of traffic conditions/congestion and that also means the white truck ran a red light.

:notsure: All just my opinion on the matter but I wish you all the best and hope at least you get the ticket dismissed.
