Used to be that way. Not anymore. The manual is going the way of the dinosaur.

    Why?
    Because it's less complex? Nope
Because it's cheaper to make? Nope
Because it used to be the standard?

Price is based on cost. Cost is generally tied to volume. Which do you suppose auto manufacturers make more of today, manual or automatic transmissions?

Maybe the dealer adds the mark up, but if you look around at some of the price sheets online MT msrp is lower than AT from Toyota. Here's that leaked price sheet that turned up 2-3 months ago http://blog.caranddriver.com/2016-toyota-tacoma-prices-leak-ahead-of-fall-launch/

Could they have changed it? Sure. As far as a manual being as complex as an auto, I'd like you to explain that to me.

Dog friendly, with dog snot on inside windows, with of course a/c! Mag 16 inch wheels from a Mazda.
Always had a fear of being on a steep hill at a stop light and some butt hole is on my back bumper. With stick and bumper to bumper traffic it stinks! Can't wait for self driving cars, set it and forget it!
