I never owned an f150 but I had a full size Silverado for 2 weeks a few years back as a rental when my Jeep was in a accident. It was only a v6 but I did like the room inside. It was OK to drive around but really some places and even at home where I live being on the edge of town and not having a big driveway off our alley parking it was a chore.
The Tacoma short bed is the right size for me .

I had a 2018 DCSB TRD Sport which I traded for an F-150 3.5 eco. After 6 months I traded it for a 2020 DCSB TRD Off Road. After moving to a different state I sold my 2020 for more than I paid for it and bought an SUV, I recently traded the SUV for a 2022 SR5 DCLB. This is my 8th Toyota pickup and I'm hoping I have finally learned my lesson as all my Toyota trucks have been fantastic. BTW, the F-150 eco was a steaming pile of you-know-what.

OP, I think you need to go to the Tundra forum to get this answer. If I no longer had a Taco, I would not be on this forum, unless I am here to troll:D

As for me, I have had several full size trucks over the years and my last was an F350 with 6.7 powerstroke diesel. Loved that truck. Probably the best truck I have ever owned. But, just to darn big for my usage. Otherwise, I would still have it.

Things I like about the Tacoma is the turning radius, and on the RC the wheel base. Most roads that are paved that can accommodate a midsize will also accommodate a fullsize. Fullsize trucks are boring to drive conpared to a midsize, but a midsize is boring to drive compared to a sports car.

I'm more concerned with wheel base, than with width when it comes to keeping the overall size of a vehicle down. Ideally the Jeep Wrangler 2dr, the Ford Bronco 2dr, and a fullsize 2dr short bed, which I think only the F-150 and Ram Classic 1500 pickups offer that configuration.

I do prefer the narrower foot print of a misize overall, but with out the shorter wheel base. That does not matter as much.

Toyota needs to offer a smaller pick up, even if it's only a shortend wheel base Tacoma.

Even the long bed double cab tacoma has a smaller turning radius than an F150 supercrew. So smaller trucks are certainly handier on any highway. The DCSB Tacoma has a Turning diameter of 40ft. I say diameter because that's the number that really matters. It's the curb to curb. The F150 supercrew is almost at 48ft.

To me the toyota wheel base is as short as it needs to be and I would assume most mid/small trucks like the Frontier/Ranger/Colorado are all in that same turning radius category, which is one reason why people buy them.

I prefer a midsize they are much more nimble, but I would still like a midsize with a shorter wheel base than what is currently available.

The average fullsize can barely make a u turn on a divide 4 lane highway from the left lane. I prefer the 450/4500 turning radius over a 1/2 or 3/4 ton.

I also like a midsize for backing down roads and narrower areas, but a shorter wheel base is also a plus in that situation.

My 2021 f150 basic v6 non eco boost work truck drives like a dream, has more power, more comfortable interior, overall feels great. The Tacoma fits the bill for me for a non work truck though. Wish it had some better power and gas mileage though. I still don’t understand how a bigger truck is peppier and gets better or equal mileage.

I swear that the turning radius on my old 1992 Toyota extended cab short bed was more than my tacoma? lol. Hard to explain why a small truck had such a bad turning radius, but it did.

Was it a 5 or 6 lug? Is there more room for the wheels to turn when the front suspension components are farther from the frame. More space would allow the vehicle to be engineered to have a greater turning radius.

Gonna have to pull an old photo, but if i had to guess it was likely 5 lug.

Apparently, designers liked to kill them too. Mine started cam phasor chattering at 30K. Good friend who worked on them too told me to dump that truck right away, take the bath on it because cam phasor repairs were 10 hour jobs costing $10k and 4 weeks in the shop. Mine was a 2018 EB 3.5 2nd Gen engine. So I'm told, cam phasor problems are worse on the 2nd gens and Ford's fix is a software update. I work in IT, no software update has ever fixed a hardware problem to my knowledge. Not a single one in my 25 years of taking care of servers.

I couldn't tell you the difference between a '22 3.5 EB, and '22 3.5 twin turbo found on the Tundra. Other than they are both 3.5 twin turbos.

It will be interesting to see how both engines compare to each other over time, and to see if Toyota's engine experiences any of the same issues as Ford's. Such as cam phasor chatter.

The 4th gen Pro might even come equipped with a 3cyl turbo, like the Corolla GR.

Been strongly considering it since I'm like $10k up on it with market prices. But.. you'd just turn around and pay $10k more for something else, right?

Traded Tacoma for a kubota grand l4760 tractor. Has a lot better low end power, but lacks top end now. All the mods cost more than the tractor.

That's a start, it could have the long bed. Now if Toyota would sell a regular cab Hilux SR 4WD on steel wheels and bucket seats with a factory 1" lift that would be great.

Compared to all the other vehicles I've owned and driven over the years, the tacoma might as well be a luxury car lol. It has CRUISE CONTROL!

I joke, but barely. My '20 tacoma is far and away the nicest vehicle I've ever owned though.
