Those who went JBA over SPC, or vice versa, still happy with that choice?

I can find no info on SPC warranty on their website. Can you elaborate? Thanks.

I've contacted them via phone/email in the past. There have been times they've asked for videos or photos of issues that I would just upload to YouTube then send them the link.

Here's their warranty info: SPC | Warranties

Thanks, it seems they only warrantee for items installed by profit makers, not DIYers.

I am far from a professional technician

Reach out to them if you're having issues, you've got nothing to lose but a few minutes of your time!

How do they define “professional technician?”

My x axis failed in 8k aswell, the ball joints were also considereal excessive play and out of spec.

After reading about the constant failures I went to dirt king and havnt looked back 2 years later

No issues at this time, have replaced the bushings, which very much needed to be done and while I was there replaced the ball joint assembly.

    Their blurb: My bolding.
    "CONSUMER WARRANTIES & PROCEEDURES
Specialty Products Company warrants its products to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use. Warranty categories include limited lifetime, limited one year, limited 90 day, or no warranty items. Individual product warranty information may be attained by viewing the SPC website and entering the specific part number. Warranty information is also included within our PIES file data.

Warranty applies to the original consumer purchase from an authorized distributor and only on the original vehicle on which it was installed. This limited lifetime warranty is in effect only when the product is installed by a professional technician. Any product that has been abused, altered, incorrectly installed or used in competition, racing or off road, is not covered. Product finish is excluded from this warranty as is normal wear and tear.

Specialty Products Company shall not be liable for any special, direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages that might be claimed as a result of the failure of any part, including, but not limited to claims for delay, loss of profits, use, time or labor.

Specialty Products Company shall not be liable for any damage or injury to persons or property resulting from improper installation or misuse of any part subject to this warranty. There are no other warranties expressed or implied extending beyond those set forth above. We reserve the right to make changes in design, materials and specifications without prior notice."

It seems their written statement is more stringent than their phone service.

That’s crazy because my next-door neighbor in Colorado owned a 4 x 4 shop and he helped me do all the work in my driveway and he is very much a “professional” but what this is saying is that they may not cover it because it wasn’t done in a professional shop and there was no paper record of it?

I could have had mine warrantied from just reaching out to them via email. I did the install myself. In the end I never sent them back and just switched to JBA. Been great for me for 2ish years so far. My SPCs are gathering dust in the garage. Couldn’t even sell them for $150 locally

I've had absolutely no issues with the JBA upper control arms. The high-caster that is built into the arms made alignment a breeze with a lift and 33" tires.

    Cheers

I’m going to stick with my SPC for the time being. Currently installing 35x10.5/17” Kenda Klevers M/T2 without a lift. The SPC allows for both the lower and upper ball joints to move forward (decreasing caster) and keeping the tire somewhat away from the body mount.

Do you do a lot of wheeling? Still happy with the JBA's? How do they compare the the SPC's longevity wise?

Not yet. Still hammering and sawing. Will be doing more sawing and welding. Problems areas are of course the pinch weld and body mount, plus a little bit of the fender. The main problem is the upper front inner fender below the battery.

Simplicity of them ease of acquiring replacement parts. They do have more positive caster built in than is optimal for clearance but that the issues with most uca's i think accutune is the only one built for actual clearance numbers.

Not a ton of wheeling, mostly just camping trips and a few trails here and there. Still happy with my JBAs- longevity wise, I haven't had any issues yet in the 2ish years I've had them installed. Meanwhile my SPCs needed to be replaced yearly or every 10k miles. My SPC were looking pretty beat up too, compared to my JBAs.

    I have JBA UCA's. Tires are 285/70/17
    Wheels are
    17×8.5, 4.30 backspace and -10 offset.
    with a cmc.
Been running them for 60k miles and no problems. Caster is 4.5ish. Drives great.
A new alignment guy did my truck not knowing it. He got the Caster down to 3°. Truck drove like crap. Bump steer and the steering wheel needed help returning to center pulling out of driveways. I took it back to the shop and set caster to what it is now. Now they keep it on file what to set it at.
    That's my experience.
