I don’t know what to do with my one free hand. Face it, everyone drives with one hand.

It's fun. I don't need any other reason beyond that.

Yeah I hear ya I had to put a clutch in my old Tacoma, I bought it used so at 2 hundred thousand it need to be replaced no big deal whole lot cheaper than an automatic overhaul. As far as RPM the bottom line with a manual you are in chacharge not the transmission. My 2011 has about 130 K on it I tow trailers and a camper it is a 6 speed. Don't quite get the RPM ideal with an automatic you don't get to choose the trans is going to shift as it was designed to the manual doesn't shift you do I don't need to look at my tack. Granted manuals are dinosaurs people are lazy and many can't chew gum and shift at the same time any way. Now it may have some thing to do with it but I have only been driving manuals for 59 years so the only way I would buy an automatic is if I lost the use of my left leg! Another plus of a manual they are a lot less likely to be stolen!

I love manual shift vehicles. Before I bought my Tacoma I owned a 2006 Lexus IS350. It was an Auto. It had 174K on it. When cold, you start driving the car would not shift from 5 to 6 until the car warmed up. Before that, I had a 02 4runner. That decided to do the dreaded strawberry milkshake. After those two issues, I made the decision that my next vehicle would be a manual shift. At least with a manual shift there is less to go wrong and if there is a problem, you know what it is unlike a Auto where you need to have a mechanic look into it.

A vegan, a crossfitter and a manual transmission owner walk into a bar. How do you know? They told you. :burnrubber:

I like manuals, but after having three trucks with manuals, and then one with an auto, I found I prefer an automatic in a truck that I use as a truck. I save my manual for my hot rod. :)

Like others have said, it makes for a more fun driving experience and makes me feel more connected to the machine, which as a gear head, I like.

Plus the shift pattern is the same as the one in my GF’s Porsche. Pretty sure that’s the only similarity between our two vehicles :burnrubber:

Because I had a 2016 automatic and the drivetrain sucks the big one. After 50,000 miles I was over it.

Found a 2016 MT to test drive and it was a completely different truck. Ordered my 2017 MT and its been great.

We are the guardians of a dying art. The purveyors of a craft born of necessity, but beloved for its spirit. We travel with purpose regardless of our destination. Every corner an opportunity for the perfect downshift, every stop a new starting line. We find joy in those fleeting moments between ratios; the crescendo of rpm, the gentle click of the gate, the building inertia in our chest as the drivetrain becomes whole again. We are the masters of our machines. We are The Manual Gearbox Preservation Society!

Wish I could have written the eloquent piece above. Driving is about the only thing left in life that I do for enjoyment and I enjoy driving my manual truck.

Its a little known fact that MT drivers use their turn signals religiously, have superior risk assessment skills, better dexterity, better problem solving acumen, better situational awareness, are more considerate of fellow citizens, have earned more advanced degrees, have better mechanical aptitude, are big picture thinkers, are more highly sought after by headhunters, are better parents, better lovers, better fighters, and suffer from the highest rates of crippling depression and suicide in the USA.

It's what I've always driven. Cities, hills, whatever.

The Gladiator comes with a manual, if you consider that to be an option

But I believe Nissan no longer offers one on the Frontier so other than the Gladiator, it's just the Tacoma

    Have a 6MT Frontier.

Nice to drive here in the mountains, always in the correct gear. 6th is a 0.769:1 overdrive which works great on the highway, holds a steady speed through rolling hills. Only need to drop to 5th to climb mountain passes, enough power to pass even.

It was cheap to buy and I still enjoy driving it as much as I did 6 years ago when I bought it.

We probably do make better Lovers as we are more accustomed to using all of our extremities instead of just sitting there :D

My first Toyota truck, a 1981 4x4 with the R22 solid axle was a 5-speed manual. Got rid of it in 1988 due to an ever-growing family. Since then, I've driven automatics including the current 2004 Tacoma Xtra Cab I purchased in 2007.

I chose a manual transmission this time because it keeps me focused on the driving experience; more connected to the road, the engine, and my place in this majestic machine. Too often, we take technology for granted. It's nice to go "retro" and return to a more visceral experience.

Nah, even if they never drive it the hairbrushes find their way into the truck o_O My Girl has never driven my Silverado Tow Rig, though she has taken many road trips with me in it. To date I’ve found a hairbrush, mouthwash, hair ties in my glove box and a Bra behind my rear seat
