Not 5000 times just every time you come to or start from a complete stop and then some more when accelerating or decelerating. Pretty frequently from what I understand.

Faster does not mean more fun automatically (ha), which is what these cars are supposed to deliver on top of being fast.

Porsche after taking away manual in the GT3 realized their mistake and brought it back.

70% take rate doesn't lie. Long live the manual transmission.

    https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a35650295/porsche-991-gt3-manual-take-rate/

I do miss my 03 GT2, best car I have ever had, period.

Back to manual Taco's, once the 2021 run is over I am pretty sure we are putting a deposit down again for a manual 22 Pro. Hopefully TRD will have a cool 22 color.

If you take the mindset of a tractor trailer driver, and not worry about cars wanting to be glued to the rear bumper of the car in front of them, traffic can require less footwork in a stick then an automatic. If I put it in first and idle, and even if traffic speeds up a tad, just idle anyways since i can see the next stop 200 feet ahead, u dont have to do anything. I do this in the right lanes, and anybody hell bent on getting there 2 seconds before me is free to go around or go in front of me and then I will just let a new gap develop as I idle along with my feet doing nothing. Most automatics idle along quite a bit faster in 1st gear than 1st in a TRDOR, so while it sort of works in an auto, its much more effective in a stick.

Well I bit, now a 2020 AC Sport MT used with about 6900 miles. There is a story there. Trying to sort out all the bells and whistles, a far cry from a simple Gen 1 or a slightly more comples 15 Gen2. So sit in the drive and play with stuff. I'm impressed with the tranny. On 40-50 mph country roads driving lightly I'm doing 21 or better mpg. Feels good shifting. Only thing that will take getting used to is looking over the humpy stuff in the Sport hood. Could have done with a smooth hood. And no CD player for the stuff I get from the local libe.

A friend of mine has a built STi with a heavy clutch like that. Makes me feel like a goon every time I drive it and stall it lol.

The scoop stiffens the hood skin. Those of us without it have to watch it flutter since the NVS adhesive doesn’t hold.

Nobody does this in the real world and driving and auto is easier and more fun at the same time.

That's a blanket statement. "For you" on both of those might be more appropriate?

I don’t think so. Manual guys say this is better and that is better all the time. Maybe “you” like step on a clutch 10 times a mile but most people don’t.

Most of those statements are noted as personal preferences. Such as, I like an MT in traffic. Or, it is perfect for me.

You said Nobody and blanketed it with a personal feeling that ATs are fun. That only applies to you.

    Peace out.

I live just south of boston, and pre-covid, commute into Boston 50% of the time. If you cant learn to accept traffic, you are going to have a lot of angry commutes. I use this method every morning and night I drive into work. I could get fired up, change lanes, tailgate so I am on the gas and brakes the whole way..... Or you can leave earlier enough so you are not in a rush, toss on a Rogan pod cast, enjoy your tacoma and coffee, and get there when you get there. All the stress and lanes changing might gain you 5 minutes sooner arrival, I dont see why you would bother though.

I do. I make a game out of trying not to push in the clutch.

All this talk of driving in traffic made me think of all the days spent in my last car. I really wish VW didn’t screw TDI up, but I did get $6k for my troubles. I routinely got 800 miles to the tank on road trips. 2015 Passat tdi 6spd manual. Looooved this car.

I tried to get my wife to buy a Sportwagen, but she thought it felt too close to the V70 that we were trading.

How so? There's nothing inherently dangerous about it. If anything, I'm going slower and leaving more space decreasing my chances of rear-ending the car in front of me. Also, because I tend to maintain a more consistent speed (as opposed to speeding up and slowing down like stop/go traffic does), there's less chance the person behind me will need to suddenly come to a stop decreasing the chance they rear-end me.

Driving a MT in traffic doesn’t bother me, if anything it gives me something to do. Sitting in traffic in one of my Auto’s tends to get boring.
