I'm getting on in years. It's getting difficult to remember things like which pedal to push to go, and which one to push to stop.

So When it came time to get a pickup again, I wanted to get a Standard shift Taco.

That way, it shifts and drives pretty much like the Audi A4, The Mazda RX-7 and the Datsun Roadster.
As far as easy to shift, The Audi has 'em all beat. Snick snick.... well, almost all, The Honda VFR800 is a toe shift, and that is slickest of 'em all. But that two wheeler falls over when I come to a stop and forget to put a foot out. ;-)

Just curious, what kind of boat ramps do you launch at that would require 2lo going down, or are you referring to coming back up the ramp?

The taco V6 has NOTHING below 1000rpm. Gotta shift and bring the revs up unless you are going down hill.

What is the advantage of operating truck in 2 lo as apposed to 4 lo? I get that reverse is geared high and low range aids backing up and such but for such a short amount of time it is engaged why bother with the 4lo to 2lo conversion.

The boat launch that I used has a sharp right turn at the top. Impossible to turn in 4lo on pavement.

    Stock for now.. maybe
This happened to my dad at the beginning of the year. He took a small but bad fall while hiking with the dog. He had to drag himself back a mile to the car. The VW Pasat M/T was waiting for him. He made it home but said it took awhile. He's pretty much back to normal now. He said he was glad my small 1st gen 2wd tacoma was being stored at his house. The tundra was to tall for him to get in, Pasat has three pedals, 1st gen just right.

I enjoy shifting a manual in my car as it is not my daily driver. For my daily and traffic I prefer the automatic

I love my 6MT Pro and my high schooler had to learn on a 5MT Subaru Forester. He was not happy, but now he knows how to drive it and I don't have to worry about him texting lol

My 2020 v6 automatic tacoma doesn't buck, or shudder either...ever...its like any past automatic toyota i've had in the past just with more od. I think i know what you may mean by some shudder or bucking. A buddies 2019 tacoma automatic with have some if you drive it around 1k-1200 rpm when in 6th gear if thats what you mean. Doesn't happen on the 2020 at least my truck.

Unfortunately with the 3rd Gen being Can-bus, there is no push starting

Biggest challenge I have learning to run with my 6 speed MT is 60 years of having reverse away from me and down. If I was engineering this thing I'd have rigged it so you had to push down harder for reverse. Good news is that the reverse camera and alarm light up. Gearing is just right for light trailers, its rare to have to drop below 5th.

    That bucking is driver error.

WTF, are you kidding me? I guess I am a closet prepper and one of the many reasons I purchased my 6MT was being able to push start.

I wonder if you could bump start with a battery that was not dead but too weak to start the truck? Somebody try this and let us know!:fingerscrossed:
