Would you consider a straight up trade for my wife, although she may be “slightly” higher maintenance?

My wife is much higher maintenance, and I still wouldn't take the automatic.

I drove my 1991 4Runner for 272,000 miles, no clutch replacement and two sets of brakes. I drove my 2006 Nissan Xterra for 305,000 miles, no clutch replacement and two sets of brakes. I do not drive like Granny. Gotta love my manual!

I love my manual Taco but just had every 6 speed owners worst nightmare happen- complete tear of the Achilles’ tendon and no driving the truck for 6-8 weeks. Stay healthy and keep shifting those gears for me!

At least it’s not your left foot, and brakes are overrated anyway.

i do miss having my DD be a stick shift but still owning a 5 speed in a non DD is fine with me especially after rowing through first and neutral while in stop and go ATL traffic.

I'm awaiting the production (week of 29-Aug-2022) and delivery of my 2022 (2023?) TRD Sport 6MT to replace my aging 2006 Acura TL 6MT, when I hear VW will stop producing the GTI and Golf R with a stick, I'll probably buy the last year of production of that as well, and then rinse and repeat for the Cayman. Yeah I know, this will present a logistical nightmare, "What vehicle do I drive today, the Tacoma, the Golf R, or the Cayman?"

They definitely have drawbacks and situations where they can be tedious but point&shoots can frequently be less engaging.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
Ah this thread popped up. Another thread where I can fanboy about manual transmissions.

My reason is probably another common reason that may be circlejerked, but the reason is that it's more fun and engaging. I rather row my own gears.

It's really simple. I like driving manual more than automatic. Automatics are way too boring to drive for me.

Manual doesn't really bother me in California traffic to be honest. I drive >20000 miles per year too.
