Private sale sounds like the way to go to. Well if you’re into all the fun stuff that can come with that experience.

Appreciated. I’d really like to get back into a standard.

…my weird issue is a company POV plan that requires a 4yo or newer model. Dealer pays top $$ and I’m in the next rig in a couple hours.

I used to work in Westwood, lived in El Monte(cheaper rent) from 1999 to 2005. All I could afford were manual beaters. Pedaling clutch in traffic didn't bother me.

Manual Transmissions are a way of life. For some, automatics are not an option.

And as already stated, Manual transmission Tacomas hold their value extremely well. I just sold my low mileage 21 OR 6sp for more than the MSRP I paid for it three years ago. I am not certain that an auto wouldn't have sold for above MSRP as well, but "The Google" tells me that manual transmission Tacomas are the best trucks at retaining value, and everyone knows "The Google" is God ;)

It’s funny, I have a ‘real’ truck in addition to my Taco. ‘92 Chev 3/4 ton 8 lug diesel Reg Cab 8’ bed. Only trans available for that engine was the 4L80E, which has been a very good match for that engine. Go figure.

Right so its a wash, they give more, you pay more.

Their hope would be that you want their car bad enough that you'll take their offer and its whatever, maybe you are maybe you arent. Doesnt really matter.

I love my manuals, I'd like to agree with you on value. But when I tried to sell my 2012 DCSB manual, it worked against me. I had many interested people but once they found out it was manual, they were out. Less and less people can drive manual and more so in the under 30 demographic.

It’s a smaller market, so it could take longer to find a buyer. On the flip side, buyers are having a harder time finding a seller. Personally I would pay more for a manual, because they are harder to find.

In any case, if you are lucky enough to have a manual, why would you sell it?

    Because it’s the obvious choice

    -more reliable
    -cheaper
    -theft deterrent
    -more control
-enjoyable to drive instead of falling asleep and not being enjoyable to drive
    -resale value
-how most vehicles worth anything were designed
-lighter and simpler to work on. It is smaller.

Thanks for the humor on this thread.

Looks like a turd in her hand...and I'm not talking TRD. lol (People on here refer to TRD as a Turd*) *In case this is not well-known*

I learned how to drive manual transmission as a teenager. (1967 Mustang Fastback/3-speed/Inline 6)

Our daughters learned how to drive a manual transmission. (2000 Turbo Beetle)

It really is a matter of preference.

I've owned both in new vehicles...and never had problems with either transmission.

Of course, what I owned were foreign makes (Isuzu/Honda).

If I had to...I can drive a manual...but I bought an Automatic. (Wasn't waiting to find a manual)

Now, as for calling it "manly" or whatever term is used, that's really uncalled for but that's just my opinion.

    Why is there a similarity?

    My reasons for a manual:

I got a deal on it

Makes the gutless 2.7 feel a little less gutless

I can tow in top gear without grenading the planetaries

    This and that
I had a 95 f-150, manual, straight six. Mobbed around nyc in that thing quite a bit. Murdered out, cap on the bed, could parallel park that thing no problem.
Just for comparisons though. IMG_2227.jpgAnd then tacosIMG_2230.png

    That's a BFT!

    Big Fricken' Truck.

The turning radius isn't too bad with my 5' bed...can't imagine what it's like on a 6' bed.

My wife has a 2017 Elantra and I love how nimble it is.

It's great to have the best of both worlds in a compact sedan & mid-sized truck.
