    Backup cameras and blind spot monitors I like, but I've never gotten a DUI in my life, I don't drive drunk, and I don't feel like blowing into a breathalyzer every time I start my vehicle; I thought that this type of stuff was meant to punish convicted drunk drivers, not inconvenience the innocent! Now I have another reason not to ever want a new vehicle!

    The early implementations were bad and people don't like them. Myself included, I had a few bad experiences with ABS on 2000s vehicles in the snow.

    The ABS on my newer Ford is phenomenal, to be honest.

    Burying a loved one because a drunk driver murdered them is inconvenient to the innocent families.

    @PennSilverTaco

    I'm not trying to be snarky, I just have no tolerance, as you can imagine, for drunk or DUI drivers.

    I've been hit by a drunk driver in my truck; I didn't get hurt but my truck sustained over $2,200 in damage. The guy who hit me had previously killed somebody while drunk almost 30 years prior to hitting my truck.

    I still believe that DUI checkpoints are unconstitutional (specifically the 4th and 5th amendments), and that you are never going to convince me that I deserve to be inconvenienced by having to blow into a tube to start my own vehicle when I have not been drinking or even been convicted of DUI.

    I know; Also, I have Aspergers Syndrome. I went through a DUI checkpoint while driving home from work on Saint Patrick's Day five years ago; Put yourself in the shoes of an autistic guy who just worked a 12-hour shift and only wants to get home, then has two cops shining flashlights into the cab of his truck at midnight when he's done nothing wrong.

    Im sorry that happened to you bub but I currently have an uncle in a coma and lost my 16yo step brother two weeks ago to an impaired driver so with that being said trying to make everything idiot proof doesn't work, they cant get people to wear seatbelts and stay off their damn phones if someone wants to drive drunk they'll find a way to do it.

    I've driven vehicles with no ABS, but never in snow or rain; One thing that unnerves me is when I hit the brakes in my Tacoma in the snow, and the pedal pulsates...

    I wear my seatbelt, don't text, and don't drive drunk! Unfortunately, I was hit by both a texting driver and a drunk driver in the same year...

    Phones are the worst, had a lady damn near run me off in the ditch this morning trying to pass me in a turning lane never looked up from her phone.

    Also can only imagine what it's like for you at a check point. Hell I got pulled over an searched because the ole glory energy drink i was drinking kinda looked like a beer can and it had me questioning if it was one too.

    Well it seems Americans can't be responsible enough to not drive drunk. This would be just another safety item to get used to like seatbelts and ABS and airbags. It literally would save lives. EVen better if it's a silent system somehow that we won't have to blow into a tube every time. I am sorry for your family situation because of a dui.

    There is no way this means you are going to need to blow in a tube in every car in made in 2026. Think of seat belts, it would be so easy to make it so the car won't run without wearing it, instead all you get is a light on the dash and a tone. All this is going to be is a dash board warning off some kind if the car Thinks you are impaired for some reason. For those saying this will save lives, it will not, even if the car didn't start without a breath test it still wouldn't save anyone, the system would be bypassed or the drunk will simply by a pre 2026 car. A wise man once said "Those who trade freedom for security deserve neither"

    I 100% support the police, but ain't nobody searching me or my truck without a warrant. Worst thing I've ever gotten out of a traffic stop was a $180 ticket for 43 MPH in a 25 MPH zone, which I took to court and successfully fought; It was reduced to 5 MPH over, which meant a lower fine and no points on my license!

    Anybody old enough to remember seatbelt interlocks that prevented cars from started unless they were buckled?!?!

    Well we're talking about cars WITH the system, not bypassing it. If you don't drink and drive then there's nothing to worry about with this system. Stopping those that try I'm all for.
