    Excellent truck.

2005 is when they added vvti to the v8 so it makes more hp than the 03/04.

One of my favorite vehicles by far. I even liked it better than my current Taco.

    I owned a 2005 V8 sr5 and now own a 2011 Taco.

Listen close for an engine tick, they are known for blowing holes in their exhaust manifolds, which are very expensive to fix.

Mine had holes in both manifolds and I was quoted nearly 4,000. The catalytic converter is built into the manifold and almost needs the engine pulled out to install.

My brother in laws 03 runner V6 has 250k. Yes, I know, different motor, but the body is the same. You'd think it was a 85k mile truck if you didn't see the ODO. Good quality rig all around and he even does moderate off roading. It's a solid rig so if it checks out then there's really no reason not to buy. The V8 will get better overall mpg than the V6 too. It is also full time 4 wheel drive (if its a 4X4).

Edit: Also, if you are interested in it ask about the timing belt records. If they don't have records you could use that as a bargaining tool. At 164k it is approaching its 2nd timing belt change. I usually change first one at 95-115k and second one at 165k-180k. So its right in the zone there.
