It does in fact have a frame.

What? It IS based on the Pilot, but the Camry is a TOYOTA car. If your thinking the Ridgeline/Pilot is on the Accord platform, they are not. They are a Unibody on Frame construction.

    A few bolts are different.
I have always had thoughts that the Ridgelin was based on the Odyssey. My thought process for this is because of the trunk in the bed of the Ridgeline is exactly where the 3rd row of seats fold flat in the Odyssey. And its the same wheelbase I believe. A Ridgeline in not for me....

I have said it before if you are driving just on the street and not doing any wheeling and want tons of luxury options the ridgeline is your truck. My gf's dad has a brand new one and they have compartments and gadgets everywhere that blow the taco out of the water but when it comes down to being a truck and 4 wheeling and towing and all that the tacoma wins hands down!

If you want a truck with a light duty chit, which can also double as a SUV, then get a Ridgeline.
    I prefer trucks, personally.......but hey....to each his/her own!

I will say this, I was involved in a dealio in (I think sante fe springs ca) where we looked at a little over 100 cars for some marketing program. I found for my body, the car that had the absolute best ergonomics was the Acura MDX. ... and I think the Ridgeline is based off of that platform - that's not to say that is has similar ergonomics. I'm not a honda guy nor am I an SUV guy, or a minivan kind of guy... but I did and do like that MDX - I wouldn't drive one on a regular basis, but I would buy one for a wife.

And if they disabled the traction control it would do even better. :)

I understand that you are looking at this due to finances but have you looked at the true bottom line on how much this is going to save you?

You have a 2007 Tacoma and said the ridgeline is 22,999

Is that the true out the door cost or is that the sale price before some slick salesman adds in a bunch of fees hidden in the financing?

What are they giving you for the trade and How much money are you going to have in your hand when you drive off the lot?

Add everything up and check the figures twice, Salesman will many times try and convince you that you are coming out ahead by showing you a lower monthly payment but fail to point out that the new contract is longer then what you have left on your current loan thus costing you more in the long run.

also don't overlook insurance costs, have you called your agent and see what the difference a policy is going to cost you on the ridgeline versus the Toyota?

What I don't get is if the OP is hard up for money, than why is he worried about getting someting to off-road in??? Off-Roading is an expensive hobby.....the difference between trading in the 07 and getting a $22K Ridgeline is negligible. Stick with your Tacoma, or get an economy car.

I don't know first hand either but as I was watching I was recalling my first time attempting competition hill at Pismo and I found my truck 'stalling' in the sand. Finally figured out how to turn off the Traction Control and it went straight up. I would figure that the ridgeline has some sort of traction control.

i know from second hand experience that a ridgeline is not an off-road vehicle. if your situation requires that you trade i'd go for an older tacoma before a ridgeline any day!
