They can’t be worse than some of Austin drivers.

It's inevitable for sure but I don't see it being "banned" in our lifetime, maybe the next generation. SO MUCH would have to happen for every vehicle on the road to be autonomous it's hard to wrap your mind around. I must say though, as a car guy it's really heartbreaking that something like this is the future of cars and trucks. Sometimes I just get in my truck and drive with absolutely nowhere to go, I love driving esp when you have a vehicle that you have built to be your own.

Too many but also not enough mods
Im counting the days, half the people on the road have no idea how to drive.

    No, not political.

Does anyone ever stop and consider how easily most cell phone users have given up their right to privacy?

Ever consider that the right to travel freely will impacted by autonomous vehicles?

It's good to think about where all this technology is leading us.

What are they gonna do? Track down every car/truck enthusiast and take their pride and joy? Good luck with that... they can try but I’m sure it’s not gonna be pretty.

My biggest fear is they will be programmed by the same idiots that drive slower than the flow of traffic in the passing lane.

I think there was another thread like this, maybe it got locked.

Bring on the autonomous driving, essentially will see less traffic, more efficient travel times, etc. I will no longer have to swear at another driver again.

Climate discussion aside, the whole “self-driving cars” thing is a wasted endeavor if we can’t even figure out reliable/sustainable alternative fuels that can be used on mass scale. Why dilute resources dedicated to research across the board? Humanity has 99million problems and they have to try and solve all of them at one time.

I think it will probably be only in the large metro areas, at least in the beginning.

It would undoubtedly help with big city gridlock as current drivers are bad on a good day.

In Atlanta, traffic will stop for miles because people will come to a dead stop to try and see what's happening on the other side of the freeway.

It's the worst city for spectator block that I've ever driven in and I travel everywhere.

So long as I still get to chose to drive I welcome it as most other drivers I see on the road today seem more interested in there phones. Today alone I saw 6 people texting and driving. I personally would never own or use one but would like to see the distracted, drunk, or otherwise uneducated/skilled driver off the road.
