Looks really clean. Also looks like it still hasn't had its first oil change yet.

For 40k, I personally would fine a CPO truck from a Toyota dealer and take advantage of the 100k powertrain warranty that comes with them.

What is the price difference between this and new? A few extra thousand might be worth it to remove the nagging doubts you seem to have.

I would pass. The reason being I bought an F150 some years ago that it had been in a minor accident. The problem was, I always had dash rattles never could figure that crap out drove me nuts.

Hop in the bed and check the roof. I viewed a CPO Tacoma 90 minutes away and the roof was peppered with hail. My guess is they thought it would go unnoticed, or it was missed at every step of the process…either way….FAIL

For what it’s worth. I was rear-ended lightly at a stoplight two weeks after I bought this Tacoma. It damaged the bumper shell but not much else. I got it fixed through insurance because quite honestly it was a new Tacoma and I didn’t care that I had to file a claim on it. The repair ended up costing something like $900 for her insurance company. I got the car restored to its original shape and I was happy. I have all the service records on this accident but if it comes up on Carfax as being in a minor accident I guess what I’m trying to say is not everything means it was driven underwater or damn near totaled.

Mine was listed as minor damage when I hit a deer. Not much to repair so it's a judgement call to what "minor" refers to. I keep my truck (and wife's car) in showroom condition. Every time we trade the Subaru in the salesman (same one for 4 trades) laughs and says I can put that right on the lot today!

However, YMMV and a complete inspection is necessary these days.

Selling the truck 90 days after the accident is the deal breaker for me. Sure, they could have kids on the way and found out that it is too small. That's too suspicious to me. I'd move on and not take my chances.

Carfax is a bunch of lies that dealers used to manipulate car prices and Carfax uses to force people to buy their bullshit services.

I wouldn’t trust anything they say, I had a plastic bumper cover replaced on my 2013 4Runner because of minor cosmetic damage from a parking lot accident, and because I was dumb enough to go through insurance repair, it was labeled as a “major” accident.

According to Carfax, I’m also apparently the third owner of a car I’ve owned since I bought it brand new in 2018.

My money is the vehicle was wrecked and never fixed right and they dumped it. My wife dumped her 2017 JGC after she was rear-ended because there was a weird drivetrain shudder the body shop and dealer couldn’t fix.

On the other side of things, my stepdaughter’s car has two relatively minor accidents unreported but with 100% half-assed repairs done by her Dad’s friend’s semi-legitimate body shop. That car has a clean Carfax and probably 3 pounds of bonus Bondo.

Really depends what caused the accident. Wife side swiped a metal pole in the parking garage three weeks ago causing $3,500 in damage and requiring a new rear passenger door. Doesn't have any impact on driveability but I'm sure this will appear on the Carfax report.

Also keep in mind that regardless of what actually happened, an accident on a Carfax does decrease value.

This is the best response as I see it.

My truck just got backed into for about $1000 worth on the rear quarter and bumper, so I suspect that might show up as minor accident. Parking lot impact of maybe 2-3 mph when I was sitting still.

Have it inspected and go from there.

What is the seat belt test though?
