Hello. New member here. I'm thinking of buying a Tacoma or Tundra and would like opinions. I am a handyman and tow a 10' box trailer weighing 3500 lb (total weight) daily. I don't go far each day, maybe 10 miles at most. All local roads, not hilly. I have a F350 now but it's time for something new. Can a Tacoma (newer one, say no older than say 10 years old, automatic) do the job. Or is it too much strain on a Tacoma. I know the Tundra will do it, just looking for thoughts on a Tacoma. Thanks.

F350 to Taco would be going from a huge cabin space to tiny. The Taco will tow it just fine though but MPGs will be low. The Tundra does not have an exceptionally high tow rating and does not get any kind of fuel mileage worth mentioning. The cab is bigger though...

I went from a F350 crew cab to my current Tacoma. I miss my F350 every day. Looking to get back to at least a 1/2 ton.

With the usage details you outlined above the Tacoma should have no problem towing the trailer. However since your current is truck basically your day-to-day business office on wheels so to speak, I think you'll miss the interior room of the F350. Even a double cab Tacoma is nowhere near the interior volume of any full-size. I'm fine with my Tacoma, but it is tight inside. I'm alone in it most of the time, so it's not really an issue for me.

Consider a previous generation Tundra if you're leaning towards a Toyota.

Welcome to TacomaWorld. Add some pics of your truck for when you get a chance.

There’s a contractor who lives on my street and drives a 3rd gen black TRD Sport and tows a trailer just like that constantly. An F350 probably wouldnt really fit where he parks it actually. A 4th gen with added torque and power should be even more capable.
