Thoughts on Denso Fuel injectors?

That right there is a big give-away itself. If you can only find a product like this on fleabay, it's probably not legit. Especially at a too-good-to-be-true price and from a non-verified seller, just like anything.

Be sure to look for signs of counterfeits (i.e. missing control code) before you buy.

 

Apparently you have to look at ALL of the pics too in order to not be fooled. In the pic with all 6, you can see a QC lot #, but then in their close up, it's gone. That part number font also screams Chinese.

Were I not an even tempered (and afraid of being banned) person, I might make a crude remark about the folks who make these.

This kind of info might make for a good Sticky thread, something like "Parts that have failed, or will fail, prematurely", or "Lessons Learned with Replacement Parts", etc.

 

I'm with ya! Here's another hilarious example. On one counterfeit posting the seller was listing the items as "Made in the USA".

They may be legit, but the picture raises caution.

Then I went over to see Mr. Diaz's site at Motor West Performance is the picture shows some "Real McCoy" injectors with codes. @Timmah!

If I was in the business, I would be careful about the pictures I use with so many counterfeit examples out there.

Those counterfeits are visibly false from a mile away. Well the font and words they use and stuff. I dunno, I'm surprised people buy that stuff but obviously it happens.

 

I bought mine from Summit Racing. They ship from a third party. They were not cheap but less than $100 apiece. Same as the ones I removed and made in Japan.

Intermotors from Rock Auto run about 70 bucks each. I replaced mine recently and haven’t a problem. If you buy that junk on EBay you will slam your junk in the truck door afterwards. Better yet, go slam your junk in the truck door to discourage the notion in the future.

 

I’m just trying to hunt down a plug and Olay 12 hole injector for these trucks! Makes a difference in the tundras. No luck yet.

 

For anyone unfamiliar with the Intermotor brand, the parent company is Tenneco. I just looked up the 2019 FY 19 projected revenue to be over $18 billion.

Tenneco is one of the major auto industry suppliers and a Just-In-Time supply chain partner for Toyota manufacturing.



For kicks, I decided to compare Tenneco 2019 revenue to to eBay's 2.82 billion for 2019. Go figure.

 

Man, they're all just sister companies with one big parent huh? Lame. Thwarts innovation, thwarts competition, etc. I accept it, doesn't mean I like it.

But back on the important part of the topic. You notice on the injectors, there are 2 kinds for our tacos. The OE manufacturer of the injector(Aisin). Apparently Aisin has contracted with a few other companies, Aisin is to provide the injector without any reference to Toyota on the piece or package. So we know Intermotor has contracted with Aisin for these injectors. Are there any other suppliers that are selling these Aisin injectors in their corresponding packaging?

Only one manufacturer of injectors for our tacos. And that's Aisin. Everything else, (doesn't matter the package or doesn't matter the ad or doesn't matter the pics online, etc) is a Chinese knock off. For our injectors we don't even get a middle price range aftermarket option.

However folks get their Aisin injector, whether Toyota parts, or summit, or parts store, just be aware there is only Aisin and the Chinese knockoffs.
Who else sells the Aisin injectors? We know Summit sells the Intermotor boxed Aisin injector. I'll bet the parts store brands, like Duralast or whatever, I wonder if those are reboxed Aisins as well? They wouldnt box up Chinese knock off injectors that melt when used? I doubt it. I could see parts store selling Chinese axles but not those melting knockoff injectors. @Running Board Man get a picture of the box and injector, detailed pics of the injector, and we'll know for sure though. I'll bet Duralast and house brands are Aisins. They have been on the past when needed for other vehicles.

And then there are the remans, which is DEFINITELY a better option than the cheap Chinese knockoffs.

 

O'Reilly sells both Intermotor and Beck/Arnley. Both are Aisan injectors. Beck are special order. Intermotor and Beck/Arnley are BOTH owned by Tenneco.

O'Reilly stores usually stock Intermotor if you are in a hurry.

When you look at the prices below, we are getting a very good deal at Rock Auto with our discount that brings the price down in the $70 range.
