I didn't say I was buying this, I posted it because I thought my only option was a new bumper if I wanted a winch & that's what the guy at Lowes had on his truck. I'm liking all the choices. I really like the one hidden behind a flip down plate.

i'm 3rd-ing the sdhq version. main reason i got it over the other styles was because it has the added recovery points below the plastic bumper, and the winch fairlead is mounted straight vertical-- i despise the idea of having the fairlead mounted at any angle. the only thing i don't like is that the freespool knob is directly under the crossmember. it makes it almost impossible to use.

It looks like you use shackles in the recovery points. What is the diameter of the recovery point holes?

somewhere around 1" more than enough for a standard hard or soft shackle to fit through.

PSA- I know this is an older thread, but this is some sage advice.

Buddy o mine installed a hidden winch on his Tacoma and was never heard from again. Sheriff’s investigation and report concluded that he probably got stuck in quicksand (quite common here in Colorado- it’s everywhere) , needed to self-recover but couldn’t find the winch because it was hidden. Perished as a result. Don’t let my friend have died in vain- learn from his lesson.
