Not really, but they might in time most likely, once the heat is lower.

you think they are regrouping or is this total abandon? Shit the other reactors will follow suit:( this concerns me.

Perhaps a regroup , they seem to be fighting to the end though. It might take over a year to cool if they melt 100% and fall to the floor.

I think if they were to pour enough cement all over them they can effectively be sealed. Which will contain the radiation. But who wants to go on the suicide mission of flying over a radioactive site. BTW this is what they did a Chernobyl after it blew they just covered it in tons of cement, but that has since cracked and is now being covered by a huge cement structure that is being robotically built.

Guys I hate to say it but this is where it stands:

Reactors 1 & 3 have partially melted down, they will take out their containments throughout the night since the plant crews gotta abandon. Radiation levels would just kill them if they stayed and theres nothing benificial left they could do by staying. Reactor 2 has already lost containment. Reactor 4's in the process of boiling away all its water, the step before partial melt down, and reactors 5 & 6 have started rising from normal temps 5 hours ago.

I've been having the live feed updates e-mail to my phone.

I've never been one to be a doomsayer, but it the next day or so, we're going to witness the first world disaster that the world knew was coming. Everything before it we've all been stuck in shock after the fact.

We're going to watch the plants fail, and it will be bad, they esitmate a 120km radius of exposures. WE WILL BE FINE IN NORTH AMERICA. this wont be bad as most people think. but...

My prayers and heart go out for these people. Anyone who can donate I hope you do.

Let's just hope that the US Government has a very large supply of Potassium Iodide pills in reserve somewhere. Seems like all the on-line stores supplies are depleted.

i dont think the iodine will help much if you get radiated beyond a casual level. Not certain though.

See i wonder though, most of those are 40 -50 years ago quakes. Maybe the siesmic gear back then was less advanced and outta wack?? I'm sure they were huge quakes. But its the fact we now have newer more sensitive and better calibrated equipment that makes me curious

It isnt actually. Like a bad car crash and saying cars are a fail. It might fail now due to what is likely , much higher standards that will be imposed and cost too much. A reactor can be cooled by natural circulation on small levels, not sure about that massive scale though.
