Thoughts on Japans nuke plant blowing up....

I think no building quakes on fault lines is a better lesson to take from this

 

Indonesia was in 2004 , and there are only 2 higher than that .

 

Also remember man, the fukushima daiichi plant was built in 1971

 

I wouldn't speak so fast. It is unmatched in efficiency, but there needs to be a serious look into containment and emergency prep. It seems to me that there would be a SHTF pipe that you can just helicopter in a pump/gen and it will keep things stable until help arrives.

yup #1 was , 2&3 followed in 75 i think. Been to hanford in Washington, scary thought that they ran that way back then in the 40s.

 

Hopefully the nuke plant officials in California are taking notes . Too bad there is no chance for any state funds to improve the plants there .

I suspect its future also lies in smaller and more reliable reactors. Not to brag for the navy , but they do a great job at running reactors. Theyre smaller too though.

So far we havn't seen huge devastation. Have you ever seen the containment of these reactors. There is an old video of them flying an F-4 into a the wall and it just vaporizes the F-4 and leaves the wall with minor damage in theory this should hold alot of the radiation back.

 

Though, little excited when i first posted this ^^

The slightly lower levels could be as simple as a gust of wind took the current radiation cloud out to sea. It could come right back up within an hour.

 

Exactly my point . It's all fine and good to point fingers and say " Those Japanese plants should have been built tougher , or had this system or that " but when it comes down to it , in a similar quake , California could just as easily be in the same boat as Japan is right now .

But with more guns .
