This too. Once I had a slow leak in my rear tire when I was on a camping trip and woke up with a very flat tire (this was before I installed an air tank). I was able to balance my pressures which was enough to make it to the shop in town and get it patched. Went from 27PSI in 3 tires to about 19ish PSI in all 4. Saved me from paying for a tow truck to come down the fire road.

I did a write up on a DIY for this over a year ago (link in sig) - based on the indeflate before all the others showed up.

The Haltec Chucks are well worth the extra cost. If you use it a lot, the ones you are using will eventually not grip the valve stems. The multiple grab points of the Haltec are much easier on the valve stems and are easier to take on / off.

I have yours saved so I can build one in the future. I have a viair 88p and hate the hose that’s attached to it. Really want to mod it so I can attach/detach a hose for 2 tires at once.

I absolutely agree with this. It makes sense on why the price almost triples for those nice chucks. This is why I *usually* only offer the non Haltec ones on the cheaper model. They are replaceable so if you want you could put Haltec ones yourself, or replace them when they wear out. I was going to permanently crimp on some barbed chucks but decided against that for this reason.

Yes, but you just screw them on and start driving. I just put them on and than hit the beach. My tires air down to the right pressure without me doing anything else.

I would never drive through rocks with those on. I've broken my small valve stems more then I can count. I can't imagine having all that extra brass ready to catch a rock.

I'm just thinking out loud, but without a manifold, aren't the two chucks furthest from the air source going to fill at a slower rate, kind of negating the idea here?

    Desert Armor does that.

Like the rest have said, I wouldn’t waste your time or money trying to sell these things. Make yourself one and enjoy it. Too many established brands with established warranty, customer service, etc. to compete with.

Nope, once the pressure is balanced, you are adding to the whole system. The closer tires won't gain more pressure, it will have to equalize. So you won't pop your rear tires with your front still flat, they will all fill the same.

I like making clamps with safety wire. I'm weird like that.

    ^ I'll buy that.

Used to plumb out hot tubs way back in the day and without a manifold the first jet in the line got the most pressure, the last the least, and so on and so fourth.
I can see how that wouldn't translate here.

Good luck with it, I hate airing up and down so much I frequently find myself running around town on aired down tires.

That's exactly how it works on an open system when adding pressure. Everything in the universe finds the path of least resistance, which for your scenario is the 1st jet in the line. Since this is a closed system the air has nowhere to escape except in to the tires. And since everything in the universe want's to equalize, so will the tires.

I'm 2 months away from being an engineer but I'll probably end up in sales *cries in fluid dynamics*

Thanks for the advice! I may try that and see what happens. I've sold a few to friends and family, but maybe a small trial run on TW would be good.

Would you know what forum is okay to post that in?

Thanks! I'm hoping some cheap asses such as myself will find these enticing haha.

If you do, check out my automagic Viair mod. Using @Shellshock 's inflator, you need to be able to switch off the pressure.

It is worth getting a set of oetiker clamps or the tool that I have that makes sweet little clamps out of safety wire.

I made a two tire inflator kit for about $40 including the sweet air chucks and a digi gauge.
