I'm just posting the articles because I know there's a lot of enthusiasts who like manuals on the forums. I personally have absolutely zero interest in owning a manual. :D

3500lbs is disappointing on the tow rating. Looks like it is going to be a great looking vehicle, would really be interested if it were more capable in that regard.

Interesting video that shows a few items not shown in detail before. Roof panels are removable with the roof rack in place! I like the tow hitch has a skid plate profile on the bottom - mine is bent from repeated hits on rocks.

Wonder if the that accessory rail on the dash actually follows the Picatinny profile? Imagine mounting scopes and lasers to it

It matched the max Wrangler tow rating. Ford obviously just benchmarked against the Wrangler on pretty much everything.

Never sat in the rear in an FJ before. Is it any roomier than the Tacoma access cab rear seat?

Yes it is. The rear room in the FJ is just a little smaller than the 4 door Tacoma.

to my knowledge this does not happen on VW/Audi. Probably something only BMW figured out how to do.
Which I don't get because both companies usually use the same source for brake parts (Ate, TRW, Brembo, etc.)

Been fooling around with the Bronco Build & Price. Can build a very offroad-capable 4-dr SUV for apx $43k - $45k.

All of my builds were 4-dr, 2.7l V6, autotrans so that's the most expensive basic platform to begin with. 2-dr, 2.3l, MT you're starting out $7000 cheaper.

Base 4-dr, 2.7l, auto, hardtop, some other options, Sasquatch package ($4500, adds 35" tires for 11.6" ground clearance, front/rear lockers, stronger front/rear diffs, Bilstein reservoir shocks front/rear, adds a thing called Advanced Transfer Case that provides fulltime 4WD to go along with the stock 2HI, 4HI, 4LO and neutral) was $44k. Not bad.

I think we're settling in on the Black Diamond with Squatch, 2.7L and mid package. Puts it up around 50k. A little pricey but I think we're good with it. I struggle with the interior colors and accents. My wife can't stand the Badlands orange accents. I'd be fine but she can't stand it.

On the plus side, it looks like we'll sell her car and she'll drive the Bronco for the first few years while we keep my Taco. Her car is a couple of years older and has more miles. The reality is that she doesn't drive that much over the course of a year. Just around town and we take her car for longer trips. On weekends, I end up doing all the driving. Eventually, she'll get something else when the Taco has some age and I'll drive the Bronco full time. Good thing she has accepted me as a car guy.

2 door base with 2.7L and Sasquatch Package would be just fine for me @ $35,000. The Mid Package would be a really nice convenience but then you'd have to go up to the Big Bend and that would end up being $44,000.

Should have offered a 5.0 model but even those 2.3L put our more power than our tacomas

There's a Ford factory tuner available for the 2.3T Rangers that will probably be offered for the Bronco too:

    https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-REB

CA smog legal and doesn't void the factory warranty... $825.
    • Horsepower gain: 45 HP @ 4,500 RPM
    • Torque gain: 60 lb/ft @ 2,500 RPM

That would bring the output to 315hp and 370ft/lbs. :burnrubber:
