Car and Driver now citing the Bronco as having been a little underrated in power. Apparently it will now make 415 lb/ft torque with the 2.7l.
    https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a36382845/2021-ford-bronco-power-increase/

So it look like you might be able to get a Bronco that weighs about the same as a Tacoma with more torque than my Tundra and a 4.7 final drive ratio.

Might have to add another toy to the stable. :burnrubber:

They just posted mileage for them as well. 2.7L with Squatch is 17 combined across the board for all trim levels. Guess I'll just keep that to myself and not tell the wife for now.

The first new Bronco that I saw was hideous. So ugly that I had to double-check what I had been reading. It was indeed a "Sport".
I do not think you can blame anyone for the confusion except Ford. Who the heck would name two vehicles that are totally different the same thing? It's not like it is a level of trim. If there is an intellectual dip here, it is with Ford.
I do like the new "real" one though. It reminds me of our FJ. I think the Mrs. would like a Bronco but she is really diggin' her 5th gen 4Runner.

I pass a couple on my way through town every day. Ones a 2-dr, the other the 4. They both look like a toaster with goggles on. Hideous.

That's all it is, a toy. What you gonna do with all that torque and a teeny 1000lb payload, win a dragrace among vehicles with 35" tires?

Bronco was supposed to be a Wrangler killer but turned out it's a Wrangler clone with a turbo engine that can't tow more than the Wrangler. Doesn't do jackshit better than the Wrangler.

You mean like how they named a re-badged Aztec a “Mustang”?

Well yeah it's a toy. What's wrong with that? You don't like toys? It's for a singular purpose. To have fun in. You don't like having fun?
That's OK. I'll be having fun enough for you. I still have my Tacoma for Tacoma uses. I still have my full size Chevy for uses the Tacoma can't handle. I still have my motorcycles for uses none of them can't handle. I like toys.

I'm sure you will have a ton of fun. The rig really is a great price if IMO you don't get reeled into the option packages. A BaseSquatch gets one a great offroader right off the lot, great bang for the buck. Not versatile enough for me compared to the '08 Runner, and after consideration I determined an animal rescue organization I support needed better equipment more than I need a toy. Cannot justify a toy when Souldog.org needs hard-working equipment to make lives better.

The $40k for a Bronco went to them for a 2019 Sequoia 4WD. I'll get more satisfaction from doing that than I ever would from buying a $40k toy.

I saw one of these in person the other day and was underwhelmed. The pictures look nice, but in person it get's a "meh" out of 10.

I imagine you probably saw a Bronco Sport which is an entirely different vehicle than a Bronco...

Could be the real thing. I was less impressed than I expected to be when I got to crawl around in my first one. I'm getting mine for the potential. Tires of my choosing, lift, no top, covered in mud. I'm betting it grows on me.

The Bronco is nicer bought I'd never buy another Ford product. Just destined for problems. I learned never to just buy something based on looks, especially an American vehicle. I'll stick to what I've learned over the years. Buy Japanese, they know how to engineer a reliable vehicle.
